Hey guys I managed to dig up some more footage on the sinkhole.

Apparently it's an underground tunnel dug out from north korea all the way across the pacific.

witnesses first noticed a small asian man coming out of the ground:

Sinkhole repairs on Vancouver's Marine Drive may take until Christmas

http://www.vancouversun.com/3995241.bin?size=620x400
From: http://www.vancouversun.com/Sinkhole...228/story.html

VANCOUVER -- A section of Southeast Marine Drive that was closed Sunday by a sinkhole likely won't reopen to traffic until Christmas Eve, the city of Vancouver said Friday.

Metro Vancouver will use a rapid concrete curing process to expedite the manufacture and delivery of panels needed to repair the roof of a sewer culvert that collapsed at the bottom of the sinkhole.

Crews will continue work at the site over the weekend to prepare for the installation of the panels, which will be poured and steam-cured off site. Normal concrete curing can take one to two weeks.

Once the culvert panels are installed early next week, Vancouver city crews will begin round-the-clock operations to repair the water main, fill and compact the pit, install a temporary paving patch and reopen all lanes to traffic.

It's expected the road will reopen on late Dec. 24 but if there are delays crews will continue to work throughout the holidays. The road is closed between St. George St. and Fraser streets.

Vancouver city staff will seek a noise exemption to allow 24-hour operations, starting Tuesday. Crews will do all they can to minimize noise during the night-time hours, but trucks and heavy equipment will need to operate to complete the work as quickly as possible.

Paving crews will also return to the site in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, city transportation staff are ensuring that access to businesses along the south side of SE Marine Drive near the sinkhole is available via Fraser.

(Thanks Trinity)

I passed by the sinkhole last night and the entire area smelled like gas, not sure if they were fixing the gas lines but the smell was so strong that it actually made me dizzy.

another one, smaller one in white rock

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Another big sinkhole has developed, this time at Semiahmoo Park near White Rock Beach.

News1130's Lara Fominoff is there and says crews have put up a chainlink fence around it that blocks off about ten acres of the park. "The notice says preparations are underway for an environmental assessment at the park. And they have installed this chainlink fence to protect the public, utility lines and infrastructure under the ground. They say that last fall they noticed an impression on the east side of the park that was about six inches deep, and it has just gotten much, much deeper."

She says the sinkhole is on reserve land and many people use it as a dog park. The hole is about 15 square feet and 2 1/2 feet deep.

Earlier this week a sinkhole suddenly appeared across Southeast Marine Drive in Vancouver.
