GIMP users? (Dust spot removal)

I'm attempting to remove the dust spots from a few pictures ie:

What are the best methods for getting rid of them? I've tried the resynthesize add on for GIMP but it keeps giving me a error messages (I've cleaned my sensor since then FYI )

Hm... perhaps using the clone tool might be a viable idea? It should do what you want in regard of removing them.

that cleaned it up quite a bit moky, thanks! What tools did you use to do that?
I'm trying to learn to make these adjustments myself, but it didnt have much luck with the clone tool (particularly on that big dust spot just the to the right of the sun.
Boostslut; GIMP seems to be pretty capable (open source software similar to photoshop) but I have ALOT to learn (ditto for photography too ) That was one of, if not, my first shot with my DSLR on Sidney Spit in the summer
