Just downloaded it, don't have the Spanish to English but the reverse word barely works, I'm skeptical it ever works as good as the video Posted via RS Mobile |
coulda sworn the first beach sign said "beach slut" at first for a moment |
wow i am gonna download this right now |
looks like a fake vid to me. i dont think even my quad core PC can pull it off that fast |
So this is real? I can't even comprehend the technology of how it does it??? wtf? Let's say you're writing letters on a piece of paper, with the tranlslator on... You could be seeing the letters change on the fly from viewing it through the phone?? Seeing different things as what you're physically writing down... MIND BLASTED. Not only this, but it matches the font style that it's viewing... |
mind = blown |
the only thing it matches really are big block letters like the examples used and they have to be pretty good candidates to work correctly if they had french i'd probably buy it, but the spanish isnt very usefull considering nothing around here is in spanish |
I am too cheap to buy the translations, but the backward text works somewhat OK on the computer screen http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/...e/aee018ba.jpg |
That is definitely some cool technology... |
hah could have used this for my spanish final |
After playing around with it a bit, I would have to say that the recognition will have to improve before it becomes truly useful. Even for the letter reversal demo, it was having lots of trouble showing the correct words... so it should have even more problems when trying translate sentences into another language, on the fly. However, I stumbled upon some other options that may work just as well or better, but aren't quite as nifty... Even the Google App can do something similar. You use the Google Goggles to take a picture of some text, it then does some OCR on it, and then you can choose to translate it into another language. The downside is that it requires an Internet connection to work. |
amazing. one step closer to star trek style universal translators :nerd: |
