i could tell it was going to be crap when they wouldnt allow you to view the library without signing up first. the MOMENT they add disney/pixar movies, i'll buy-in.

Ulic Qel-Droma 02-17-2011 02:41 AM

i just signed up for my free month and saw rampage... not bad, sorta. about a guy that goes on a rampage and kills 9X people.

next film ill watch is probably EXAM and then 1984

can i ask why our selection is limited? i looked up sorcerer's apprentice and it says NOT AVALIABLE. but it's on netflix.

is it cuz we're in canada? is it cuz CRTC has some kinda fucking bullshit control over what's avaliable?

thats fucking BULLSHIT man. i want my FULL SELECTION MOTHER FUCKERS FUCK.

Ulic Qel-Droma 02-17-2011 02:58 AM

k im gonna try to sign up for USA NETFLIX through a proxy, and use PAYPAL as a payment method (cuz with a visa they want an american billing zipcode). as an address im just gonna use some fuckin.. hyatt seattle or some shit. lol tell u guys how it goes.. i just need a proxy..

The selection is getting better by the week. Personally since I have Movie Central on my cable I get mostly new movies on that and then use Netflicks for older stuff.

Generally I recommend Netflicks to people with kids too cause my daughter and I have run through Avatar, Invader Zim and iCarly, a wack load of documentries on there and not even put a dent in the list of things for us to watch together.

I watched Weeds season 1 and 2 and ended up downloading the rest of the series... Couldn't wait for the other seasons to be added. Moviewise, I watched "les Miserables" with Leam Neeson and Uma Thurman. Great historical/period piece... And on a completely different genre, i watched "American grindhouse" a documentary about the history of Grindhouse theatres and the progression of exploitation films.

I watched weeds a while back.

I just noticed Top Gear UK seasons 2 - 15 are on netflix now though.

Reviving this thread a bit:

I just started paying for a new feature separate from netflix.
Unblock Us - unblock your favourite video and social websites

It's 5$/month or 50$/year, and basically when netflix tries to identify where you're from I think it gets redirected to an American IP address so you end up with the American Netflix !

I've been using it for a couple weeks now and it's been GREAT! Once you purchase it, you can set up your PS3, desktop/laptop and even your iPad/Android Tablet! (I did it on my ASUS transformer)

SiRV 09-04-2011 10:32 PM

I'll add a few good movies:

1 - The Chaser (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190539/)
2 - Man from Nowhere (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1527788/)
3 - Sin Nombre (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1127715/)

None of these films are in English. The first two are Korean.. although usually I'm not a big fan of K-movies, these two were quite good (esp the first one).

It's 2012 and I'd say it's pretty decent now. Time for a thread revival. Well at least I need to revive it as I'm doing a lot of work and I sort of need some visual background fodder so I need suggestions/hidden gems that my favourites aren't picking for me.

Might not be your cup of tea but I'd say give it a chance:
Bobby Fischer Against the World

Ron_Swanson 02-01-2012 01:26 AM

Just watched Primal Fear. I believe it was recently added?
Really good movie.

I usually hate Richard Gere but thanks to netflix, it's so painless to give movies you usually wouldn't see a try at the very least. Will be going to check this out.

Anyhow, this work of mine has me going on a movie marathon. I just saw another good one. For a good drama: White Irish Drinkers

Nvasion 02-01-2012 08:55 AM

mark whalberg movies are always good

socialenemy69 02-04-2012 09:58 AM

Just signed up for the trial and for the price of one Shaw on Demand movie you get one month service is a no brainer. Sure it might not have the biggest and newest selection but Im finding lots of movies that i have always meant to watch but never got around to seeing. Plus TV shows are a plus, 200 x-files episodes lol.

Nlkko 02-04-2012 08:57 PM

I said it and gotta say it again. Watch Sherlock the TV series season 1 on Netflix. Then go look for the season 2 on the net.

Just watched the last episode of season 2 yesterday. It is so fucking good. :tears:

Still using this service? Any issues at all? I have been debating this for a while now.
