Arcane.
I just finished watching this series, and binged it in about 3 days. It came out in 3 separate parts throughout Nov, but all 9 eps are available now.

The show is based on the video game League of Legends, but I have personally have never played it or know anything about the game. The show was created in a way that you don't need to have any knowledge about the game to enjoy it. I believe the story itself is an origin anyway.

The animation on the action is just next level. But not even just the action parts, just overall, the facial expressions, the subtle hand gestures, the voice acting, the artwork itself is creative and unique and gives off this "painting" look. The music is very fitting.

The story is good, the characters are interesting, and the storytelling is excellent.

This show is killing it the ratings all across.
100% on Rotten Tomatoes
9.3/10 on IMDB
10/10 on IGN

I really can't find anything bad to say about this show. Without knowing anything about LOL, I don't know if I can accurately judge if this was a good video game adaption, but at the very least as a standalone, this show was incredible and I highly recommend it.

(oh, I actually only skimmed through the trailer before watching the show. lol. I realized it may reveal or hint some things you may not want to know if you're the type that prefers to be totally surprised).

I enjoyed the show as well.

I know nothing about LOL though, when is there an actual league and champions? :lol

Or is this show a prequel to that?

POGGERS

Been watching Arcane, I know absolutely nothing about LOL and finding it to be pretty good, enjoying it! Love the fact that the lady from Expanse is doing one of the voices.

Also watched S2 of Naked Director... what a fuckin mess... S1 was amazing but S2 just jumps all over and there's no segue between scenes/episodes/events and you're left just assuming something has happened... and it's just so depressing and dark as it goes I felt pretty bummed out lol

Saw a show called "Maya and the Third" that's done by the director of Book of Life (one of my favourite animated movies) might check that out too.

That trailer I just posted... Only watch it if you really enjoy the awkward humor of Kyle Mooney from SNL... It's 100% his show, so it's his humor.

I like it so I enjoyed it, but my wife can't stand it so this show drove her crazy LUL

For the outdoor enthusiasts, '14 Peaks' and 'The Alpinist' (amazon prime) are great watches.

The Alpinist is particularly interesting as it's close to home.

^Sad ending.

Watching Superstore Season 6 now that it just came out on Netflix. It feels like ages ago when season 5 left off.

68style 12-16-2021 03:22 PM

Damn Mike watches a lot of shows

Squid Game x Kingdom cast

finished superstore s6 and arcane, now on to witcher s2
also watching wheel of time on amazon, wish i didn't have to wait weekly though

SkinnyPupp 12-19-2021 05:56 PM

Witcher feels like they are taking 20 minute stories and stretching them out to 1 hour

Edit: Also I think I'll try turning on subtitles next time, it's almost impossible to understand what people are saying half the time, with thick accents using non standard English terms and names.

Following Wheel of time as well. Trying hard not to compare to GOT and giving it a fair shake. I'm ok enough with it so far that I'm following, we'll see where it goes. Also I don't read books so I'm going into it not comparing and knowing shit.

Just finished foundation season 1 on some TV, SO good!
Also started “the morning show”, also excellent!

GLOW 12-20-2021 07:14 AM

yes I'm trying not to compare it WoT to GoT, you really can't with the lack of violence and nudity :lol
I haven't read the books so i can't be a critic of it, and i think the actors playing morainne and lan are good for the roles.

i don't mind it but do find at times things drag on a bit.
@skinny i like accents so i don't mind :lol

ya i've been watching the witcher at night and finding i'm dozing off a lot, didn't quite have the same pop as s1...though i'm amazed at how yennifer's low hanging strapless dress can defy gravity
Spoiler!

mikemhg 12-20-2021 01:23 PM

Great tits on that gal.

68style 12-20-2021 08:23 PM

Yennefer is fucking gorgeous... I'm surprised the actress doesn't get more attention than she does.

SkinnyPupp 12-21-2021 03:09 AM

Yennefer is gorgeous but doesn't have "standard" beauty. Personally I think it works better this way, but she probably won't be a huge star.

mikemhg 12-21-2021 11:40 AM

I think she's part white and Indian.

Beautiful woman, very unique features. Those lips, oooweee.

Hondaracer 12-21-2021 07:40 PM

I liked her better as the freak

GLOW 12-22-2021 07:36 AM

diff strokes... :ifyouknow:

Traum 12-23-2021 12:33 AM

I think this is quite new, and it just kind of showed up in my Netflix feed:

Each episode is quite lengthy at ~50 min, but it seems to be a well researched and well presented documentary. I think I'm gonna enjoy this.

68style 01-11-2022 10:23 AM

I have watched Witcher S2... I definitely didn't like it as much as S1, like SP said the episodes seemed like they were really stretched out. Some cool moments. I felt pissy about Yennefer not having her powers the whole time and some of the Elves stuff seemed unrealistic and heavy handed.

I missed the music guy being around, he was kind of annoying at times in S1 but he was a brighter light in S2 when he was allowed to get some dialogue going.

Also watched Cobra Kai S4, I really enjoyed it. S3 I felt was a bit disappointing but I like where things are going with this one and how some of the characters are starting to grow and evolve.

SkinnyPupp 01-11-2022 04:14 PM

Cobra Kai was awesome, it's such a dumb show but also so good... It's like they take all the best parts of dumb 80's action and drama, and the best parts of modern 'prestige' television, and have created a show that is perfect for 40 year olds AND their kids. Amazing. Can't wait for S5!
