I haven't built a computer in ages and I've dug around a few forums to see what other ppl have put together for a gaming computer that can support SC2 on high/ultra settings. I been to NCIX and Memory Express and what they keep offering me are deals over $1100 for the rig I'm looking for. like $1,200+ or more
Anyways, I'm trying to construct something on newegg.ca and came up with this and I'm looking for some feedback
All this is suppose to cost $1,100 on newegg.ca though I think there are some parts that could be improved.
I'm not 100% sure these parts are all compatible though. So if any computer expert here know and can let me know, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm not sure if I need anymore cooling fans, or do I even know which ones I need, so if anyone could advise me on that too.
Oh shit, what motherboard should I be using? Posted via RS Mobile
Something with an LGA1366 socket (& X58 chipset).
For gaming, you're probably overkill with that CPU. You could cut your price down by a few hundred bucks with an I5/P55 system, or you could use that extra cash to a better video card, you would get way more gaming performance that way.
Corsair 750 watt power supply 134.99 ($109.99 price match)
HIS RADEON HD 5850 iCooler V 1Gb GDDR5 PCI-E w/Dial DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort Video Card $269.99
Zalman Z7 Case $49.99
Total after tax = $1,203.93
So what do you guys think of the deal from Memory Express? You think NCIX will make a counter deal? Anything changes you guys would recommend? Posted via RS Mobile
And you don't need that kind of spec to play SC2 on ultra high settings...

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.
SSD is essentially a hard drive that dosen't have any moving parts. Think of it as a huge stack of SD cards combined to make 60gb or something - though of course it's not as simple as that, but the concept is similar.
In a regular harddrive you have a stack of disks, and when your computer needs to access a file it needs to physically spin up the drive, and then look for the file (think of how a CD drive works)
Now since your computer's OS needs access to a good handful of these files at any given moment, imagine the time savings with an SSD where you don't need to physically move anything to gain access to a file.
1) WTF, why would they suggest a ATi 5850? get a 6870!
2) forget about i7 950, either wait for a month when i7 2600 (also $294) or get i5 655K CPU
3) you don't need a $200 motherboard for gaming
4) don't get a SSD until mid of next yr. Price is going to drop sharply in Q1 and Q2. It's useless to have a 60gb SSD, I don't find my 128GB SSD useful at all.

Simply - New generation of storage device
Normal spinning HD = Read / write speed around 80-100mb/s
SSD HD = Read / write speed around 120-500mb/s
