Witness Needed: Tonight 9:00-12:30 at Metrotown surface lot. Witness Needed: Tonight 9:00-12:30 at Metrotown surface lot, Superstore side. I parked my STi near the back of the parking lot as shown: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/RCubed/jpg.jpg Someone scraped their car against my rear right fender, dented and scratched off paint. Slight paint transfer, looks like it was a black car, or rubber bumper? If anyone saw anything, please contact me at rcubed [at] phas.ubc.ca or PM me. Thanks. |
aww man, that sucks.. but these sort of cases are hard.. You might as well take it as a loss and try to forget about it. |
Poor STI :( |
how much do u think it'll cost to fix it urself? |
And this, is why you take pics of the cars that parked beside you, along with thier plate after stall parking. Good luck with it man. But you're probably gonna need to bite the bullet and just fix it yourself. |

Should I even bother with a claim? my deductible is already $1000 and I think the damage looks to be around that much.. Quote:

^I dont know if i am the only one but I am waaay too lazy to take a picture everytime I park. |
Similar damage happened 2 winters ago with my dad's X3, we got it fixed at advantage collision for under $700 maybe under $500 IIRC. but for us it was bumper + fender damage on the corner so your damage might be cheaper to fix. |

Just fix it up yourself, it sucks in the beginning, but you'll get over it. I've had my fair share of damages that weren't my fault as well. |

Let's hope someone spotted you at Metro tonight took a picture of your car and post it in the SPOTTED thread. Track down that dick that damaged your car. |
Don't ever park around the corners where cars are always coming and going to trade paint with your car. |

^ agreed, i was thinking that too. what's to say the person who was in your picture didn't leave, have somebody else take his spot, and when that person left, that person damaged your car? only way (imo) anybody would be able to get out of this without paying out of their own pocket is if they found witnesses, or if security cams caught it to be honest to the OP, i doubt you'll have any luck with witnesses (and metro doesn't have any security cams in any of it's parking lots) given the time that this happened. if it was earlier, you'd probably have a chance since there's always a lot of people hanging out by that entrance, but since the mall was closed, you're going to have to get really really lucky =\ |

If it is, then they get screwed. If not, then you're shit out of luck. You could also just say that a passerby left a note saying that a car with this plate did it and ran. Make sense? Even if, by the time that the car was repaired before ICBC could check it, they'll match the damage to a point of damage, like bumper height, paint code, and any signs of repairs. As much as we all hate ICBC, thier car inspectors know how to do thier job. Most of them anyways. |

I was catching the last showing of Tron. Pretty cool movie. Lol. |
Sounds like he's outta luck. Ahhh, shit happens :( Your not the only person going through something like this. Plenty of others including myself have been in this kind of situation. |
Call metrotown security. Report the exact location where you were parked and see if their cctv covers that exact spot. I've operated cctv at metro before and I know they have cameras covering that area. Might be worthless since the over head cameras most likely wouldn't get the plate but it is worht a shot. |
deductible is your best friend i parked my car in underground for 20 mins and someone scraped my car before |

plus what would taking a picture prove? There could've been 5 black cars that parked and left and re-parked by the time ur done in the mall |
