Maid Service

My roommate and I are getting too lazy to clean our place and we both agreed on splitting the cost to bring in a maid for a one time thing. Has anybody had any experience with maids? Any of them you would recommend? I live in east van if that matters. We live in a 2 bedroom basement suite no bigger than 600sqft. Any idea on how much it would cost? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Take caution with who you hire because they do tend to steal stuff. Check references if possible even if it's a one time thing.

You deserve that fail for being too lazy to clean your own damn suite. If you're serious about wasting money on a maid, try molly maid or hire a friend to do it.

I'm not here for financial advice. I'm here for suggestions on a maid. If you can't help me with that then please stfu. I clean my place all the time and like I said it's a one time thing. I've check places like CL and they have maids charging $20 an hour. If the total cost is $100 and my share is only $50, then what's wrong with that? I work hard for my money and I would like to come home to a professionally cleaned place once in a while.

sounds like some of these guys are still used to taking orders from their parents. some people have better things to do than clean. and hey, maybe they dont, but the fact remains - let the experts do what they're good at. cleaners clean

I dunno how much truth is in that based on what I've seen after 2:30pm.

At first I was going to make a comment about how lazy someone must be if they can't clean a 600sq foot apartment... but then I remembered how good of a night I had last night, so I figured I'd be nice.

gf's family has a maid come in once a week - she's a chinese lady who does it for various families and charges them $30 in cash everytime she comes in for the whole house - just basic stuff.

So, yeah, i would think there would be others like that advertising for similar rates? But someone up there said they do steal, so if that's true, maybe it's better to be more cautious haha...maybe hire someone cheap and then be in the house as they clean, so they don't steal? lol

$30 really isn't a lot, a friend of mine has a maid who does something similar twice a month, except she charges like $100 a time.
Granted, he lives in a pretty big house, but for $30 I'm wondering how much cleaning she actually does.

600 square feet?
lol... and you want a maid?

i live in a 650 sq.ft place and it takes no time at all to clean up.
wash dishes, sweep floor (or vacuum), wash washroom.

maybe in the summer ill start up an "at home bikini car wash"...we go to your house to wash your car haha

Gunsmokez 01-02-2011 11:13 AM

Why are some people hating on the op? If the guy can afford it why not? Same thing with people taking their cars to car washes/detailing. It is not because they are lazy , but they have the money to PAY someone else do it that are better at it.

Yes thank you! That is exactly my point. Yes I am lazy at times but have you guys never paid for a service that you could've done yourself? Calling pizza for delivery, even eating at a resturant. You can cook it at home but you're paying someone else to cook it and serve it to you. And last time I checked, $50 isn't alot of money.
