same with fido, but seems to be fixed

It's because of jerks that send "Happy New Year!" to every single contact in their address book. They can be recognized because it's the one time of year you get any kind of communication from them.

maybe they are new to this technology call cellular phone?

Network overload lol

the only other time the system is generally overloaded is during the fireworks at english bay

Worked for me when I was using EDGE network but when I went back to 3G bbm wouldn't send nor txts. But yeh does happen every year massive bbm and txt msgs ftw!

I had to wait for about 10 seconds before a phone call would register, mind you, it depends on how loaded your cell site was for calls, (depending how many channels that tower supports) and for text, well... there's like <10 texting servers last time I checked... that's hella lotta bandwidth w/ overhead from the protocol itself.

Either way, no big surprise, I was at the casino last night for countdown, and hoooooly shit was there a lotta people for one tower.

hmm I got a text at like 2pm jan 1st saying happy new year. maybe they sent it at midnight LOL...
