thinking about buying a 98 Rav4

Hey Guy,

Can someone share some experience/thought on this car?

fully loaded with 255 XXX km.
4 door, auto.

I know about the regular stuff to look for, like timing belt and stuff.

Im looking for major problems like tranny and motor.

What should i look out for?

Does 3500 sound like a good deal?

TIA.

Iuno if it's a good deal or not, but that's quite a bit of mileage. even though it's only 20k a year.

also rav4's are DISGUSTINGLY underpowered if you can live with that.

Sorry guys.

Could we please stay on topic.

Leopold, im not looking for power. I need this as a daily.

I think it was 120 HP. something low like that for a shitty AWD car. But it should do.

We would need to see the specific car, every car is differen't, especially one that's been driven 255,000kms. Have it professionaly inspected and they'll tell you what you're getting into.

everyone person I know has had one of these... great little things... underpowered as hell, so don't stomp it, or you'll end up wasting gas, but they are exactly what they're designed for, commuter w/ space.

thing is basically Front wheel until it starts to slip, and becomes 4 wheel, i find that pretty useless.

It was good though, never really got stuck or anything with it, even climbed some random dirt hills.

Though mine was a 99, it's all in the first gen.

you will definitely like this car. the lack of power can be teeth grindingly frustrating at times but for an A to B commuter you'll won't regret it. Had a 2000 one before and it kept going strong till the day it was sold.
