EOSC Courses at UBC

Hi everyone, has anybody taken EOSC 116 (Time of Dinosaurs) before? How was it like? I'm contemplating on either taking EOSC 114 (Natural Disasters) with Leah May Ver, EOSC 112, or EOSC 116 at UBC.

Thanks a lot!

Cool, what did you take with her? I know the course is pretty reading intensive, but how would you rate her in scales of teaching, easiness (how she marks, midterms, finals, etc)? on a scale out of 10? Thanks

PS: Currently, I'm registered in EOSC 116 with Sutherland, Mindell, and Mortensen. If I plan to take distance ed, EOSC 114 with Leah will be my first choice.

Randall Mindell is a kook.

He normally has a strange, sometimes not-funny sense of humour, where he tries to crack jokes and the keeners would LOL while the rest of us gave the pity laugh. But one day, someone said something that led to him bringing up how his older brother/cousin/relative (?) called him "Juan de Fucker" after the Juan de Fuca plate (relevant to the discussion at the time), and then he was so goddamn morose and snappy for the rest of the class. I think he has some issues that need to be worked out

Had him (co taught with Mya) for EOSC 221 - Intro Petrology

Don't remember, all I know is that I took EOSC 3XX and 1XX distance ed and 2 of them is with her. Reading intensive is like most courses out there. 180 pages of text per midterm is pretty fair. Midterms and finals are all mc, and nothing that hard if you read.
