Actually I heard the same thing from my sales guy @ MB a couple of months ago (chatting with him while waiting for my SA). He mentioned the E-coupe and (to a lesser degree) the C in particular for stealing market share from BMW. Apparently the wait time is now 6+ months instead of the usual 3-4.

Anybody work in sales @ MB or BMW? It's probably an internally published document. Not everything is on the internet ya know. ;)

Mercedes chief executive officer Marcus Breitschwerdt said Thursday the company has gradually increased its business here by adopting a strategy of shifting away from a model lineup that suited Americans to one that was more European.

“In Canada, the social structure is like many European countries – middle class, hard working and skilled people,” he said in an interview. “They also care more about fuel economy and the environment.”
This is probably a big one. I knew several people who wanted to get mid-size cars but did not want a huge 5L engine (CLK500 for example) and therefore backed away. Now if only they'll bring in more lower end Diesels, and the A-class instead of Smart..

so it took Mercedes 10 years to do this??

MB line up in NA

FerrariEnzo 01-07-2011 03:00 AM

but it took 10 years and double the amount of vehicles to do this...

you think those numbers are good?

Iron Chef 01-07-2011 10:17 PM

actually this is just for Mercedes vehicles, not including smart and sprinter

Actually, you still haven't posted anything even resembling a source, so this is nothing but a rumor.

Overall though, Mercedes is a much larger company worldwide.

toddzilla 01-08-2011 12:43 AM

But overall - on the whole - man is much hairier than woman.

Yet on the whole, well at least for most of us on RS, the floor you stand on is hard.
