| confused about audio equipment
now that i found another set of tweeters (Focal TN-45, for free), im starting to plan out my audio build, but i am confused on some of the equipment that i have acquired.
First of all, heres the equipment list:
Focal 165V2 Components
Focal 27V2 Sub
Focal FP 4.75 Amp
Audiocontrol Overdrive
these will be put into my mazda3 running off the OEM head unit.
my question is, what do i do with the audiocontrol overdrive? what's it for, and how do i use it? do i need to use the overdrive to boost the signal since im using the OEM headunit speaker output to LOC? if so, do i then use y-split rcas from the overdrive to amp so i can run the fronts and sub? or should i scrap the overdrive all together and run 2 RCAs from headunit to amp?
i also have access to an audiocontrol HPX, not sure if i should use it since im kind of confused on running the overdrive + HPX together.

Give your system the boost that it needs. The high headroom power supply of the Overdrive raises any pre-amp signal up to 24 dB. The special low-impedance audio driver circuitry ensures that all of your music gets to the other end of the cable without any loss or distortion. No head unit has this kind of output drive power. This provides better dynamic range and a quiet, noise-free signal. Perfect for running those long cables from the front to the back of the vehicle.

I would ditch the OEM headunit. They just suck. Sorry.
If you absolutely must have that OEM deck, then make sure you get a multi-channel line-out converter like an Audiocontrol DQL8, LC6I, LC8 or whatever. The overdrive is only two channels so you won't have a lot of control with it.
There are other products out there like JL Cleansweep (overpriced), RF 360.2, JBL MS-8 etc...etc...and they all do similar things - smooth out the signal, boost the output voltage to your amps and of course, control your sound a lot better. Some have 32 band parametric EQs built in which can be handy...and complicated.
I would say visit one of the sponsors and see what they recommend. They know this shit inside and out so they will take any confuision out of your thoughts.

If you really want to add some versatility to your stock head unit, look no further, check out the Bit One by Audison. 32-bit dac, hi level in-8 7volt pre-outs, dual aux-in, 32 band eq per channel with time correction, x-overs ect... I'd be happy to give a demo and more info. Give me a shout or pm me,
Cheers!
Happy shopping

The audio control hpx will have speaker level in with a master volume so you can utilize the factory head unit and a aux input if I remember right for mp3/ipod etc. the over drive you wont need. All good electronics and will sound great.
