Question about proper coverage from icbc

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows the correct approach to take in insuring a car say with modifications in terms of being protected in the event of collision/writeoff etc...
Basically a vehicle with a new engine and other transplanted parts from a newer vehicle won't get into detals about it...
autoplan guy wasn't very helpful as he didn't know which steps to take..
Do I just get it appraised?
Anyone have any experience with this situation good or bad?
Thanks

This was mentioned in the R34 stolen thread. I forget what it was called but there is a special plan

Depending on what parts, it may have to be re-inspected.

Anyway, took me about 30 seconds to find this on ICBC's website:

Try going to another autoplan.... or call ICBC... They would have the most accurate information to help you out.

Thanks guys although the icbc link doesn't help though......basically if anyone with an eg has done a k20 conversion what options have you taken? Aside from receipts, what else is sufficient?
I guess I will have to phone icbc directly.

Appraisal. And arguing when your car gets written off. That being said, your car will be covered for my 1/6 of what it's worth.

Try going private.

Or, accept that you have a modified car and anytime you crash a modified car you're fucked. Hopelessly fucked.

The only decent way to recover any funds from a modified car that gets wrecked is swap stock parts back on and sell the after market stuff.. but still.. your pretty much fucked.

It depends on the age / model of the car.

Basically you won't get full amount back if you modify your daily driver (according to ICBC's definition of your daily driver.)

I have made a post about it here.

Keep your receipts and have an appraisals done on the vehicle. Your in a way covered up to the first $5,000 in attached modifications (ie: paint jobs, wheels, etc.) in the regular coverage. ICBC also sells an excess special coverage coverage on top of the $5,000; they use like an special ratio for this coverage (ie: every $100 worth of mods could be xx dollars).
