Wow that is actually a really cool concept. If only they'd make it so you could use any android and just plug it in via usb or something, I'd get one if it was cheap enough.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

It's not just mirroring video to a monitor. Watch the video that was posted above. Very interesting concept.

Watch the video in post #3.
It's an actual desktop application. Like I said, its not just mirroring video to a screen. It's giving you almost a complete computer experience.

ok im watching that engadget video

so far.... i dont see anything different than having say.. an N900 hooked up to the tv

and running a citrix virtualization server? -_- ooooh wow -_-

cough n900 with windows or OSX or Linux installed cough

with atrix u need a dock and or their netbook with u at all times =crap

i dont know i just cant? see the innovation?

as for the media centre UI that's already available too in phones
Again the only appeal i see is that it offers the same things already available just with the power and the memory to have things run smoother and look better, run in tandem

You kind of have to look out side of the box. It really isn't just hooking it up to something and pulling that up to a monitor or screen.

You hear phones that have amazing specs all the time but you're limited to it just being a phone. The Atrix on the other hand, has really great specs but they aren't put to waste. You're able to use that power as a desktop. When you do plug it into the dock it's a completely different OS with your phone integrated to it. It's not just running a blown up android os, it's their cloud based os.

You don't need a dock or the netbook dock at all times. It's a phone that can be used as a desktop. You bring those with you when you want to use it as a desktop. You can really just see them as accessories which they are.

That's pretty sweet. It's actually running the Android phone OS alongside the Android desktop OS at the same time and you can seemingly switch between the two.

its a laptop with a removeable PHONE!!!! you still have to lug the dock around with the phone, so why not just make a super compact laptop and be done with it?

i dunno. powerful phone, but kinda fail to me.

2ghz dual core processor, I wonder how big of a battery it needs, but yeah, I like the concept though.

screw the heavy laptop / nettop, this is what I want.

lol it has nothing to fo with that the n900 was just a peffect example, again i just dont see whats so special and no1s been able to point out otherwise, granted the integration between desktop and phone is handled better because this wasnt user/hacker developed, motorola has given the process a nice UI but again thats to be expected with the spec increases and corporate techs behind it
all im sying is the Idea isnt innovative as its been aeound for awhile Motorola simply tied it up in a pretty bow, which isnt that pretty considering the perripherals needed (kind of like what Apple does)

I think you're still kind of missing the point. It really isn't just loading an desktop OS onto a phone and saying that was the integration. Almost anything now can load up an OS given the right drivers.

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. Once Google releases ChromOS and actual peripherals for ANY android phone, we'll start to see some cool stuff.

As phones become more powerful. (ei; dual core to quad core processors coming out, Graphics chips.). Mobile travelling becomes a very powerful companion. Now you don't need to carry an actual Notebook that's quite heavy but a fairly lightweight Display/keyboard and your phone to travel. It will put less fatigue on the person but will still accomplish most task a normal Notebook can.

Some say "Why don't I just bring my netbook and my phone, same thing". The thing is, These phones are getting so powerful their performance in the near future can surpass netbooks. The only drawback to this Atrix dock/notebook is the price of the dock. LCD screens aren't cheap, unless they price this thing at a very competitive price then sure it's a fantastic alternative to "On the Go" mobility.

To further add to my above statement, this phone can play games at a decent graphics output. By end of this year to early next year, you'll start to see a lot of dual core/quad core mobile devices with impressive graphics chips.

In summary, your mobile phone will become your Notebook in the near future

Yeah, my concern is the cost of the screen/keyboard unit. I am interested in this, but my concern is that the cost of the (unsubsidized) phone + screen/keyboard unit might approach or even surpass that of a Macbook Air.
