Ghost Car with an "L"!

So we we're going home from the Canucks game last night and saw a ghost car had pulled over a car on Hastings. The ghost car was actually a pickup truck with a canopy, but also had an "L" on it! Which brought up a story by my gf... she said quite a few years ago, her friend's mom was pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, but was also ticketed extra for driving with an "L" on the back of her car. The mom's reasoning of course is that her daughter drove the car as well, so they just left the "L" on there. Anybody know if it's truly illegal to drive with an "L" or "N" on the back if you're not really a 'learner' or 'new driver'??

In other news, look out for a pickup truck with a canopy that has an "L" on it!!

A ticket?? That's ridiculous. I see driving instructors driving alone in their corollas, Ns and Ls on the back all the time. Time for the police to crack down on those criminals, lock them up and throw away the keys.

seems to be quite common now, ghost cars with L or N signs on the back

I saw a black dodge magnum with a N sign pulling a dude over near venables/clark back in summer.

so watch out guys!

I believe I have seen that truck. Mid 90s f350 4x4 in bright blue 4door and long box with a matching canopy. It had construction pylons in the back

I think it might be illegal to have an N or L without actually having that particualr type of liscence. When I had my N liscence I just left it on the back of the car and one time my dad was driving the car (his car i was learning on) and he got pulled over and got a warning from the cop about having the N showing without the N liscence.

When I still had my L, my dad got pulled over cause he didn't take it off and the cop didn't give him a ticket.

I'm almost certain that driving with an N is not a ticket-able offense.

Driving with an L might class under driving behavior that wastes and officer's time? Technically I don't know what that would fall under though.

If you have an L on the back of your car and are driving outside the allowable conditions of an L driver, of course you will be pulled over. You look like a learner breaking the rules.
That's common sense.

+1,

Driving with an L will just make the police notice your driving behaviour more. I don't think you would get a ticket tho
