Honda engines which one?

Hey everyone,

I just finished a full rebuild on a d15b2 sitting in a 91 civic cx, completely stock as my first car, now that I have my N and drive it I have gotten bored and want to build a new engine for it, i'm looking into building a turbo set up which engine should I use to turbo? I looked into the d16y7, another d15b2, d16a6 and a d16z6.

I'm also looking for the engine....... any idea where to go? does anyone have them, i want a BONE STOCK complete engine running or not running as long as the block and head are not cracked or damaged.

B Series are overrated. you pay a premium for parts, and you make good power. if you have the money yes i say go B series. If you are mechanicly inclined, go with a d16y8 or d16z6. you get vtec with it and they are extremly cheap. If you want to build it and you do the work yourself $500 can get you a nice vitara setup which can handle 350-400hp. Then its just a matter of getting a turbo put together. Check over on vancouver civics, a member Danz as well as Darin there has built 3 10 second d series civics in the last few years.

in terms of price k > b > d

it really just depends what platform you want to choose. all of them are capable. as recommended above, talk to darin and dan if you're seriously interested in boosting a d!

It's amazing that honda noobs like this still exist, I was tired of answering these same questions over and over.. 10 years ago.

I hope your rich, otherwise, your probably gonna have a slow, and/or unreliable car lol.

Now on to the real advice...

D series, the D is for "dissapointment". People that hype the D are just trying to hide the shame of being poor. They can usually be found in trailer parks, low income housing, and most parts of Surrey.

B series is the logical choice IMO, a JDM B18C GsR drivetrain in a 91 cx hauls ass, feel's a lot faster than it is, but will provide endless hours of enjoyment. B series can usually be found rolling down the highway on the back of a flatbed... attached to someone stolen integra.

K... it's for rich people. It is most commonly found in the front window of tuning shops which are actually fronts for drug dealers, (its a great way to wash money). It makes more sense than a b swap in some ways, consider any b series or d series you buy is at least 10 years old. How does it make sense to pay 5k for a 10 year old drivetrain? It doesnt... Unless you're slangin.

I hope this was helpful, thats 10 years+ of experience talking, dozens of engine swaps, countless burnouts, e brake turns, light to light races, road head sessions from potentially underage girl, etc.

Just remember its not about what other people think is cool, you should do what you want to do with your car, express yourself, like Arash.

Then post pics online so we can mock you with reckless abandon.

Hope this was helpful.

B18C all the way.. If money is not an issue than I would totally go K-series. Nothing like having a engine swap that costs 5x as much as the car...

turbo d would cost less then the k swap, same power or greater plus it weighs less. and yes i have a d and yes it has less power then a ride on lawn mower, lol. but on the plus side it's impossible to get a speeding ticket =D and great on gas.
