Bashir's Auto Car Wash

Made a search on Bashir's, and they were either old posts dating back to 2002-2007, or ones that talk about their undercoating.

There's a deal going on for 50% off their top of the line "Level 5" Wash that includes:
*Wash
*Vacuum Interior
*Wipe inside Windows and Dashboard
*Door Jambs
*Triple Coat Waxes
*Undercarriage
*Tire Dress

Ultimately, the best advice would do wash the car yourself or use one of those DIY pressures washers. But for those that want a undercarriage wash, and feeling lazy to do it in this weather... what do you think? Anyone else here have experiences with Bashir's car washes?

doesn't the owner of this place have a white on red f430 spider with white rims, and custom plates "bashir"... or wut.

ilvtofu 01-18-2011 03:52 PM

I'm guessing the triple coat wax is done by machine
But +1 for being a lot closer than wash world and probably way shorter line up.
My car needs the vacuuming anyways.

EDIT: Just bought 2 coupons

Yea, that's why I didn't go ahead with the Wash World deal yesterday.

Bashirs does all the paint protection and undercoating for my dealership here in North Van. They have a satellite location that services the dealerships here. I have been quite happy with their service - they even pickup and drop off to our lot!

I'm sure the retail location in Richmond is as good.

Szeto 01-18-2011 05:18 PM

15 bucks includes triple waxing... hm... anyone actually tried this service yet?

TheKingdom2000 01-18-2011 06:43 PM

In my experience, this probably takes 20-30mins at least. Waiting etc.
I don't know if it's worth it.

The esso on marine drive is pretty solid for $5.

I guess the undercarriage and vacuuming is the selling point.

Haha My first time going to no 4/steveston location was alright when I came out, but when I went back on 99 with a half frozen car was no good :( still better than not going. The problem with wash world right now is that the word is out on the $6 car wash. The lineup 2 sundays ago was about half an hour, which means that their "guarantee" might be a load of BS on a busy day

If you truly care about your vehicle, do it yourself. If you don't have the time and energy, get yourself a professional detailer. Not knocking on this particular shop, but this line of business is all about quantity and turnover. You get what you paid for.

syee 01-18-2011 10:05 PM

Not a bad price - most places will charge $20-$30 for the same thing.

Like others have mentioned, if you want it done right, you've got to do it yourself. Every single shop I've ever gone to has done the same thing when washing a car - either a brush or a dirty mitt that's been sitting all day in a bucket filled with sand and grit from 50 other cars at the bottom and most likely no grit guard.

I do sometimes wonder how these car wash companies who claim to do detailing can ignore probably the cardinal rule of paint care. I guess a swirled car means extra business for them on the detailing end?

maxx 01-18-2011 11:47 PM

that place ruined my friends' car and he refused to pay for it. she got stuck with an $1100 service bill to fix her car.

+1

im kinda iffy buying it

jmvdesign 01-19-2011 07:35 AM

I've taken several cars there throughout the years and received good service. I don't know how it is nowadays though.

maxx 01-19-2011 01:07 PM

sure, she had a 94 325i convertible and she went for the $70 or $80 package. This was last March, and Bashir's damaged her ECU, which had to be replaced at the dealer at a cool $1100. I told her, obviously about buying a used one and going to other mechanics, but she had better things to do, and just took it to the dealer. And he wouldn't cover even half the cost.

Now i had two detailers damage my Land Rover and my M3 (cosmetic interior bits) and they took full responsibility and paid for repairs and inconvenience. One detailer went as far as giving me a $140 package, free of charge for future.

ilvtofu 01-19-2011 01:16 PM

^What'd they do to damage the ECU?

drunkrussian 01-19-2011 02:15 PM

wow thats messed up. i dunno if it was bashirs that damaged the car or not but surely this is not a common thing. my gf's dad has been taking his 04(i think) 3 series to bashirs for years for the basic washes and nothing has been damaged. is it to do w/ sth beyond the exterior wash?

RevRav 01-19-2011 02:24 PM

For basic washes and stuff... I dont think they would even have the chance to touch your ECU...
