Now you weigh that against him stealing less than $100? Keep him on, print his name, embarrass and disgrace him. It was a stupid ass thing to do. Kids working at McDonalds know better than him.

But cops selling drugs? Beating people senseless for the fun of it? Police officers who truly behave like pigs? Absolutely, get rid of them. No pay, no benefits, nothing.

Slippery slope there don't ya think.

As some one already posted do this at your job and your canned. These are police we are talking about they should be representing the best society has to give. I feel there should be absolutely zero tolerence for rogue behavior within any police force break the rules your fired. I'll tell you why if you are able to pass all the academic/psychological/physical test's wile training you are given vast powers over the general population this is a very powerful position to be in. Anyone with the power to strip me of my liberty better take their position of authority seriously.

Efficiency of tax dollars is one thing, trust is a much bigger issue.
I don't want my rights and safety protected by people so morally corrupt when there is only $100 on the line.
What if it was say an average week's worth of pay of $1000?
Or my life savings? Can the police force as a whole be trusted with your life savings or your life?
The question is, are you willing to bet on it?
And if so, I'm betting the dollar amount you just came up with is less than that "efficiency of tax dollar".

Furthermore, their corporate image they display by keeping this douchebag around shows them to be corruptible.
When law and morals are not enough to make the hard decisions, people lost trust.
That loss of trust comes in the form of resisting arrest, officers hurt (which legitimately results in absent with pay) and creating more flashpoint incidents to show them in a bad light.

The office of the "police" in western society is called to be an exemplary model of morals and integrity, when that starts to fail, any sort of downward spiral can only be stopped within the police.
I'd say we're in a downward spiral wouldn't you?

Until the court proves him guilty, he is still innocent, that is why he is suspended with pay.

For the cops,it's "innocent until proven guilty",cops get to stay at home with pay until proven guilty.

For anyone else, "guilty till proven innocent",civilians gets to stay in jail until proven innocent.

Greenstoner 01-20-2011 02:16 PM

i just thought about this, quite interesting

he took some money, committed criminal... but returns to job with slap on the wrist...if i were the police and from his point of view i will feel so embarassed especially surround by law enforcers ....

and i dont have any other skills to find a different company... that feeling must sucked lol

jaguar604 01-20-2011 05:42 PM

He'll probably be transferred to a 1 man detachment in Nunavut.

How can any other cop trust him if he's found guilty?

you! 01-20-2011 08:38 PM

At least we're not Communists

I am pro police, and believe most of them are very good people.. I can see where the people's frustration comes from though. If I were a policeman, I would not expect paid time off if I had been caught stealing or doing anythign against the criminal code. LEO's should be held at a higher standard. It amazes me how these people get through the selection process! That is what amazes me more than anything. If he was stealing change from a POLIce station, I wonder what kind of undetected dumb shit he did prior in his life, that he DID NOR DISCLOSE in his interviews...

bloodmack 02-07-2011 10:36 AM

Note to self: If I want a good vacation, become a cop and steal change so i can get suspension with pay.
