Burnaby RCMP Officer charged with stealing change BURNABY (NEWS1130) - A Burnaby Mountie has been suspended with pay in a strange theft case. A constable who's been with the force for two years is accused of taking loose change from a desk drawer at a community policing station. http://www.news1130.com/news/local/a...g-loose-change The officer is accused of stealing on several occasions. Sergeant Rob Vermuelen is with E-Division in Vancouver. "One of our members in Burnaby in late fall of 2010 noticed some change missing from one of the work stations from a drawer. It was reported to senior management. They immediately launched an internal investigation." He adds it's not a great amount of money. "It's well under a hundred dollars. I'm thinking it's around the $40-70 range, that's obviously something that will come out in court. It's not really the amount of money though, for us, that matters. I mean, the fact is as police officers we are in a position of trust so any breach of that trust is something we take very, very seriously." Thirty-seven-year-old Constable Derrick Holdenried was suspended in December. He has a court date next month and will have to answer to a separate internal code of conduct investigation. I support my police officers but come on change? ughhhh  |

What a fucking idiot. |
Why is the RCMP even brothering to charge this guy? They should have charged the 3 guys in the Robert Dziekanski's murder instead. Waste of tax payers money going after this change stealer! They should just punished him within their own system...bump him down a pay grade that'll teach him not to steal. |

That's not taking anything seriously. At a private firm, expect to get fired on the spot and charges filed. |

This is for real guys! The RCMP, a police agency trusted with the powers to arrest citizens of our country, can be trusted to handle internal security matters promptly and efficiently. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a man allegedly guilty of stealing change is on the same level of punishment that we gave to the guy that kicked the shit out of a bloke's face in Kelowna, and more than the guys involved in the airport matter. We'll show him who's boss. You go home, and take a paid vacay and think about what you did young man. See you back in a few weeks. Need a loon for the bus? |
even taking the change will not pay for bail or lawyer fees...that guy is fail |
What a fucking disgrace. Fuck the RCMP Posted via RS Mobile |
There's been so much negative media coming out of the RCMP lately. I am beginning to think highly of the VPD and other municipal police agencies. |
Let's hope he won't get promoted for the rest of his career, that will be the only "good" punishment. Posted via RS Mobile |

Its one cop, not all cops. Just because this guy is a blithering retard doesn't mean all cops are dirty and stupid. |
^ Sensible reasoning escapes most people here. |

Instead of protecting each other, fire them and distant themselves from these rogue/dirty/bad cops that truly do not represent the force as a whole and make an example of them to deter such behaviour. Theres no deterence when you know you will be protected and the most probable outcome is that you get suspended, with pay. |
If most of RS, or people in general, could articulate their thoughts in the manner you just demonstrated, their opinions would hold so much more validity. You know, there's nothing wrong with having an opinion. However, if you spout off like a teenager full of angst, no one wants to listen to you. Also, constructive criticism goes so much further than just "fuck this fuck that fuck them fuck you fuck me fuck fuck fuck fuck". :bla Just IMO. |
Agree with Azndude69, but not 100%. I wouldn't want to have my tax dollars pay to replace a cop over petty theft. It costs us what, $30k to train a cop? You consider wages for him, the instructor, the equipment and materials. Then you consider his experience, etc. Now you weigh that against him stealing less than $100? Keep him on, print his name, embarrass and disgrace him. It was a stupid ass thing to do. Kids working at McDonalds know better than him. But cops selling drugs? Beating people senseless for the fun of it? Police officers who truly behave like pigs? Absolutely, get rid of them. No pay, no benefits, nothing. |
just sad... what's sadder is suspension with pay. |
Everytime a cop gets in trouble, it happens to be the RCMP and same shit as always, suspended with PAY. Why are we paying for the dumb mistakes by these idiots? Police officers should be leading by example and be held to a higher standard. If normal citizens can't get away with those offences, why the fuck should they? And of course, our Justice System ain't gonna do shit about it. :rant |
