TOS'd 01-21-2011 10:38 PM

With that thread title, I was expecting some scandalous story about some japanese Anthony Espinosa using someone elses money for his own pleasure.

That's defnitely cool kind of a a stock market thing going on didn't realize its this big. Wonder how much I'd save buying a ferrari there?

if you lived in japan and got a broker to buy you one vs. buying one from a dealer, you'd probably save a bit...

but these kinds of cars generally cost a lot more there compared to north america.... so you would pay more than save if you wanted to importe one here (especially with the high taxes).

LOL are you suggesting that they don't have mountains in Japan? :failed:

These cars are fine if you don't get smacked into by SUVs and 18 wheeled trucks, otherwise it's QQ.

Great find, I was always curious about how there auto auctions compared to ours!!

monkeywrench 01-23-2011 04:38 PM

Wow the transactions are quick as instant.
Lucky for the Australians to be so close to JDM land :[

hk20000 01-23-2011 04:47 PM

^funny you mention that but a car travelling from Japan to here takes about the same time actually.

It's just whether your broker has been taking a nap the whole time.

TRDood 01-23-2011 05:28 PM

sucks for us because we won't be able to register 90% of those cars on our roads.

Weird how they land in Osaka and then train to Tokyo. Wouldn't international flights go to NRT? Taking the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo is more expensive than flying.. hmmm but I guess they got the money.

That Osaka observation deck is amazing, much better than the CN Tower in Toronto.

hk20000 01-23-2011 06:40 PM

no they landed in Osaka and went to the car auction in Kobe if you read the little words on the auction sheets.

It's like landing at YVR and driving out to Surrey for a car auction kind of deal...

They also went to Tokyo in the short because in another episode they had Tokyo Auto Salon coverage.

And for those who are intrigued by the prices of cars in Japan I like to look at used car prices in Japan using this website:

http://www.goo-net.com/index.html

of course it'd only do you good if you know what models you are looking for.

RCubed 01-23-2011 07:35 PM

if you were wondering what they bought:
Spoiler!
