must checkout places in HK for camera stuff

Donno if I should place this in Travel section? I'll let the mods decide later on...

anyways, gonna go to HK, I heard from friends that HK prices for used lens/new accessories are a lot cheaper. There is so much stores/locations so are there any you guys recommend?

Looking to buy either a used/new Tokina 11-16, or Nikkor 55-200 VR and SB-600.

this is a pretty updated price list of all new in box gears in hongkong.
if ure picking them up new,go to the chain stores like: broadway, fortress.
avoid all small camera stores on the street that usually rip tourist off. (especially tsim sha tsui).

for used camera gears, go to SimCity in mongkok.
unless ure looking for SLR, film cameras and old school manual lenses, go to the small mall under Champagne mansion in tsimshatsui. its right beside the mira hotel.

These are the places that my friends have recommended to me. They both have pretty good gear IMO but I'm still new to photography. If you want some small cheap accessories, there was another place a friend recommended in Sham Shui Po but I forgot the name. Hope this helps!

wow $560 CAD for the Tokina 11-16 is a pretty damn good price.

Its available for $599 USD at a few different shops in the states...so thats a pretty good price as well.

But since you're going to HK anyways, you can save a good chunk of change on taxes etc...i say do it!
