pms much? can't imagine you going anywhere with that attitude in life

all the flower shops i have been into are the same and i have bought alot of flowers, its like picking which 7-11 has the best smokes. when the majority of the stores get their flowers from the same suppliers and prices are +/- $10-20 range for 24-36 flowers from experience

6insomnia9 01-31-2011 03:21 PM

What if you just wanted to get just a single nicely decorated rose? Would you guys still recommend the same stores?

Matlock 01-31-2011 03:38 PM

I used to go to the Korean lady at Station Square Metrotown, but with Valentine's Day prices I'll probably just check out Costco. Otherwise, she is awesome at arranging bouquets and wrapping them.

What better way to express your care and affection for that special person than with sensational, fresh-cut, long-stem red roses? They are shipped fresh, budding and ready to bloom for a lasting impression. These beautiful red roses come in a vase and are accented with baby’s breath.

Your Bouquet Includes:

36 x 60 cm (24-in.) long-stem red roses
Baby’s breath accents
Glass vase
Care Instructions:

Upon arrival, your bouquet may appear to be limp due to packaging and weather conditions. To maximize the life and beauty of your flowers, it is important to follow the care instructions below.
Fill a clean container with fresh water and flower preservative.
Do not use more than the recommended dosage as they may be sugar sensitive.
Cut your flowers in a diagonal direction, approximately 2.5 cm (1 in.) from the base of the stems with a sharp knife. This will expose a fresh wider surface of the stems to the water.
Remove any foliage that will fall below the water line to reduce the bacterial contamination of the water.
Revitalize your flowers by re-cutting the stems and placing them in fresh water every 2 to 3 days to maximize shelf life.
Keep your flowers in a cool area to help them last longer.

How much did you guys pay this year for a dozen LONG-STEM red roses that were nicely wrapped or individually wrapped?

Dragon-88 02-17-2011 12:34 PM

I bought the costco deal so $75+taxes for 36 roses and a vase, shipped. It was a nice bouquet to not just roses but all the other stuff it comes with.. I'm a guy dunno what the other "stuff" is called.

I personally think that getting flowers from a basic flower stand is good enough in almost all cases (women have never complained when I've given flowers in no-frills wrapping.) No fancy wrapping is really needed because in almost all cases, they'll go into a fancy vase where the flowers can go after the mandatory trimming of the stems. Besides, flower stands often have flowers before they are in full bloom.

+1 for Vin's flowers.

Very clear communication when I called, delivered right on time, and beautifully wrapped.

Gnomes 01-28-2012 08:17 AM

All the flowers on vin's website are in a vase.

Do they come in bunches cello wrapped without the vase?

Just to ask here, what is the etiquette on flower deliveries? My girlfriend is currently away, and I'm thinking of getting her flowers delivered.

Work vs. where she is staying?

If I purchase a dozen of roses from Vin or Metro Flowers, do they have a nice long rectangular box for me to put the roses in?

I've bought from Flower Expressions and Parker place one next to CHQ before. Flower expressions has pretty good prices and customer service. I know nothing about flowers though and they helped me pick everything out and whipped up a nice (and affordable) bouquet. Don't think I'm going to get flowers this year though, I simply don't like them and rather spend my limited money elsewhere.

I usually do the opposite which is to not buy flowers when society says I need to, bday, anny, Valentines etc. I usually buy them out of no where because really why should we just buy them on those days? Scores quite a few brownie points too.
