flowers?

where do you guys usually get flowers for your gf?

i've been regularly going to cambie flowers (40th and cambie) and been pretty satisfied, on the downside though they are kinda pricey

are there any places with valentine day/week specials?

PJ 01-26-2011 05:44 PM

All places will jack up their prices for Valentines.. I used to just go to Safeway or whatever, lol. Lucky for me, my girlfriend says they're a waste of money.

Thomas Hobbs Florist in Kerrisdale sells fresh flowers. They don't look as old as some of the other places. The petals are lively and its colours are vibrant all the way to the edge, whereas other places, you may find the edges are a bit dull or a bit dead.

FI-Z33 01-26-2011 07:02 PM

received a few from the one at parker place...i like them :P

Supafly 01-26-2011 07:13 PM

Vins flowers have never failed me:hotbaby:

icemiko 01-26-2011 09:31 PM

Go to Costco if you have a card, they don't jack up the prices.

I've made two dozen origami roses before for my ex. That took forever since I'm not some artistic person.

Buy some flowers if you want to be hassle-free, but since it's V-day soon, flowers will be a bit more expensive.

Definitely but THomas hobbs is quite $$$

There is a place on 49th and knight that has tons of flowers. I have never purchased flowers from there but my dad has a lot and he keeps returning there to get them.

Who cares, if you can afford a rangeover, you can afford a dozen of roses.

oh wait, you're a girl nvm, you don't buy flowers... =P

hamsup 01-27-2011 09:47 AM

Cambie Flowers and Thomas hobbs are all pretty expensive... Safeway is a really good deal on roses... and of course costco... (the downtown costco sells blue roses from time to time too)

anyways... the parker place one is where it's at =)

^ YEA!!

the_law82 01-27-2011 12:19 PM

Don't forget those flower stands downtown!

It won't be your fancy bouquet of flowers, but for a "I was thinking about you" bunch of flowers, $10 at one of those stands can get you something pretty decent.

babybear 01-27-2011 08:26 PM

Roses are red..

I think it's called A&W Flowers. They're so freaking passionate about their flowers. Got my grad bouquet there, along with my sister's. Their arrangements are always so beautiful.

I'd totally love it if my man got me a dozen from there this valentines.

Would love him even more if he handpicked a dozen for me ;)

Thomas and Hobbs has been my go to flourist for about...a year or so now. Yes they're expensive but the recipient has always loved them. Regularly 18 red roses+accent flowers are around $135 but they told me for valentines day a dozen red roses no accent flowers will already be 130$ My cooking teacher has recommended a place on kingsway and broadway. Brownies?

I used to always go to Thomas Hobbs all the time and I agree it's more expensive compared to a lot of other places but I didn't mind as they did seem higher in quality. Now in the last couple years my financial situation has not been as flexible as I have taken on more expenses so now I go to Vin's flowers on Slocan. Prices are pretty good and they do a good job so really I'm not complaining nor should one think going to Vin's is more ghetto compared to Thomas Hobbs. Just because this flower shop is located in a neighbourhood corner store doesn't mean anything. The fact is the prices are solid, their flowers are nice, and they do a good job.

Here's their website http://www.vinsflowers.net/

Whole Foods Market on cambie and 8th..
Best quality flowers for the price.
I bought a dozen long stem red roses for $24.
Check them out.. i promise you guy's won't be disappointed.

miss_crayon 01-30-2011 02:43 PM

Urban Fare, pre-made bouquets range from 18-50 depending on the size that you want. I don't know much about flowers or anything but I'm always happy with my purchases when I buy them for family/friends/clients. Their florists are rather knowledgeable and the flowers are always looking fresh.

I use to go to Queens Park flowers as well when I was in new west for a project. Haven't used them in a good 3 years though so I don't know if they've chnged at all.

Awesome. I'm in the same boat. She's totally un-materialistic and has forbidden me buying her jewelry & flowers. All I have to do is cook a good meal, do laundry, vacuum & drive her around....wait...am I getting a good deal here?!?!

Where did I write I did it for a day? I cook for us everyday, because she can't cook worth shit. I do all the vacuuming & most of the laundry. I just don't have to worry about buying birthday & Christmas presents because she doesn't believe in that shit. :woot2:

That is like saying what's the point of your post if you are not going to help? Not every store has a huge variety of flowers, might as well tell the op to go to safeway and buy them if he thinks the girl will like anything he buys. Every store is different whether it be quality, price, customer service and the ablitiy to customize it, if you don't have anything positive to say then don't post and fuck off?
