Dressing up at Fancy Restaurants

Is it really necessary? Want to go to Bacchus, but I'm not really fond of formal wear.

If you want to go some where nice you at very minimum are going to need slacks, shoes (not runners) and a button up shirt or nice sweater. (Essentially office casual.)

Depending on your company you might be able to get away with that. If it's a date I would suggest adding a suit jacket. If you're going for dinner (as opposed to lunch/brunch) I would highly recommend a jacket as well.

If you hate neck ties, you can probably avoid them, but I think shirt/slacks/leather shoes is pretty non negotiable. Especially at the Wedgewood, where Bacchus is located.

Note: The food was fantastic last time I was there, and worth a bit of stuffy attire.

possibly go with dark jeans, a dress shirt with a jacket on top

if you dont want to wear a jacket, go with a dress shirt with a vest

Just went there last week for dine out!

I had dark blue jeans, those lace-less shoes and a dress shirt (no tie) with a dark coat.

I think its just SMART/BUSINESS Casual its alright.

BTW, I thought the food was ok there, not the Greatest, but its alright.

Like I said in the dov thread, I'd dress up for Bacchus. No ball gowns or tux, but I'd dress up with a blazer or sweater vest. Or a nice shirt. I'd stay away from runners for sure.

I showed up in a winter North Face jacket, white t-shirt, jeans, and runners. No harm there.
