Opposite for COD games.
I just buy the game for the campaign and let my little brother play multiplayer because the skill level for that game matches his age.

He's 9 btw :fullofwin:

i have yet to see this "teamwork" in MP everyone so avidly raves about. maybe you all play on PC?

ive a couple games of conquest in the first hour i had the game by being the only one getting flags.

Do you have a squad that you are constantly chatting with?

You'll understand when you start playing with a consistent group of players, or when your fellow random players start to understand how to approach BF3 as an objective based game. You would think there would be enough people that played Bad Company 2... The basic Rush and Conquest modes haven't really changed. So people should understand that teamwork pays off BIG.

Ex. 2 engineers double up in a tank. While there is nobody there, as the 2nd gunner, I'm happily riding along in the tank, spotting jets and copters, using zoomed view to continually scan for op-for and most importantly of all, enemy tanks and anti-tank infantry.
If I spot another tank, I will hop out, fire off my AT weapons, then get on repairing my tank. At some point, I may run out of repair and the tank gets damaged too much, so the other engineer hops out and starts to repair. I get back in, this time as the primary gunner, and continue to shoot the other tank.
Sure, this tactic is a little cheap, but 9/10, you're tank is going to take down the other tank and make it to the objective to wreak havoc.

Another simple thing would be using your squad as spawn.
As an attacker in rush, make sure somebody is always alive and have the other 3 continually hit the objective. With your superior spawn location, you'll have more advantageous firing lanes for incoming enemies and will likely end up beating your opponents due to less spawn-to-objective walk time.

RRxtar is just a COD fan boy and refuses to change his style of FPS shooter for any game lol

He already states that he is a fan boy for any game infinity ward makes, but the only game they mad is mw2 lol

  1. it's a close server so the ping is low. I've gotten as low as 35ms for Seattle servers. Let's just say low would be under 75ms?
  2. We get reserved slots.
  3. Somebody gets a vent server going, can't stand Battlelog voice chat just plain doesn't work for me.
If somebody can confirm this, I'm in.

It'll be in Seattle with Nuclear Fallout. I've gotten pings as low as 10ms when I set up CS servers with them.

604778 already set up a Vent server when beta came out!

PornMaster 10-31-2011 01:44 AM

so reserved slots guaranteed?

we should look into stats for the server
or find a server that gives the option

mb_ 10-31-2011 02:08 AM

Yup but I have to figure out how to do it the automated way :fullofwin:

I think the stats are an add-on sort of thing. That's how it works with CS anyways so I'll just guess it won't be too different

RacePace 10-31-2011 07:58 AM

Oh, for our server, put in TeamSync, if you have TeamSpeak, it'll automatically put you in squad VOIP channels

TeamSync - Tactical VOIP for gamers

Okay, Battlefield 3 isn't for me. As a casual gamer I enjoy the "arcade" feel of CoD. With Battlefield 3, I realize it's supposed to better simulate an actual battlefield, but I can't stand how I can run around for 5 minutes and not run into anybody and how everytime I respawn, it takes me 1-2 minutes just to get back into the action. I'm not very good to begin with, and I can't see any of the damn enemies before they pick me off. At least in CoD, the enemies are more visible so at least I stand a chance. I do like the fact you can use the vehicles though. I can see why everybody else would like it though, but for a casual gamer, it's not easy to play

vafanculo 10-31-2011 08:50 AM

Coming over from cod (and I'm not the biggest cod fan, halo is more my element), it took me a while to get used to BF3. At first I hated it, but after I got over the change if game play, I love it.

The feeling is you really are in a battlefield. I love how you can run and dive, hide behind boxesn rocksn etcm. COD as soon as you are shot once, game over. Respawn, get shot again. Atleast for me, since I suck, this cycle repeated till I got frustrated and shut the system off.

And I can definetly see team work in this game. Too bad I don't have a squad nor a pc version.

I'm a causal gamer myself. I really dont see myself getting into the problem you are having thou!

Try playing on a more populated and non hardcore server.
Spawning on squad will mostly get you into the action right away.
(Unless you squad are all sinpers ;_; )

Non hardcore server have spotting, that little orange arrow shows where the enemies are. It helps your teammate and yourself to locate them better.

Most of time I dont see anyone, but I just kept shooting under the orange arrow and can land myself a kill.

Give the game a try again!

You completely missed everything I said eh?

I said Im a COD fan, specifically the games IW made (COD4 and MW2), not so much the Treyarch titles (WaW, Black Ops)

also, I missed a word in my post, I ment to say "ive wona couple games of conquest in the first hour i had the game by being the only one getting flags."

As I said, I can understand how the game would work if everyone played as a team, I havent seen that yet.

And in COD Im not a Deathmatch player, I play modes like S&D, Demolition, Headquarters, and Domination

Try team death match. The maps are smaller, you'll have no problem finding someone in seconds.

I used to be a COD fan myself, then started playing BF. I can see the appeal on both sides. COD just seems more lone wolf style. Smaller maps, fast paced and just go Rambo on everyone you can. You're main objective is to kill as many people as you can. Much like a modern day CS. The thing that irked me the most about COD was the stupid nuke. Just seemed stupid. But hey, to each their own.

BF2 was awesome because you had a commander on each side to delegate to the different squads. Commander would control the UAV, Artillery, Supply drops. I was kinda hoping to see that for BF3.

BF3 is not as forgiving as COD. It does seem a little slower paced, and I think that's the point. Lets people think outside of the box, build your own routes, blow up buildings, etc. The point isn't just to kill as many people as you can, it's about collecting points. You can collect points just by capturing flags, repairing vehicles, reviving or refilling ammo for your team. Just gives you more freedom to do whatever. Just takes time to get used to it. It's really not that bad, just need to play with the right people. Also, you need to practice a little. I started the first few levels hating the game because my K/D ratios sucked. Now I'm loving the game. It shouldn't take you 5 mins to see action, spawn on a squad members.

Chronix 10-31-2011 04:35 PM

the only fun part of SP was the jet mission. that was awesome.
