2012 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet

To its benefit, Nissan seems to understand that this most unorthodox offering won’t be a mainstream model like the standard Murano.

“It’s not going to be a volume car,” Nissan North American sales and marketing VP Brian Carolin said. “But there’s a degree of bravery for us to bring out a car like that right now. It will surprise a lot of people.”

Cargo space is to be compromised for unlimited headroom, but since the Murano convertible will be targeted at empty-nesters, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. The standard Murano’s 265 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and CVT transmission remain and all CrossCabriolets will be all-wheel-drive.

A fully insulated cloth top covers seating for four. Aside from a limited space trunk, the CrossCabriolet is mostly ordinary in its interior details.

The CrossCabriolet will list from $46,390; no factory options will be available. Look for this most unusual crossover to hit the market in early 2011.

IMO it would look 1000000000000000x better with a hard top. I find it odd that nissan went after this, i always saw pictures of concepts but never knew it would go into production. I wonder if toyota will come out with a Highlander Cabrio.

They took Jeremy Clarkson's idea of a convertible people carrier way too seriously.

As opposed to the exterior dash? lol

And while it's neat that they actually made this concept, I think it looks horrid.
