Time to change back to summer tires?

This winter has been a bust as we only have snow for just several times, not like ones experienced in Toronto.

Best times to change back to summers right now as the weather report is just saying it will be raining a lot and no snow forecasted for the long-term.

littledog 02-05-2011 10:48 AM

It's going to be -2 on Wednesday. Good luck driving with your summer tires on frost and black ice.

MindBomber 02-05-2011 10:52 AM

Winter tires aren't exclusively beneficial when driving in snow, they're designed to maintain grip on the road in low temperatures.

Once the forecast changes to be consistently +7 then its time to switch back to summer tires.

i was thinking about doing the swap this weekend but since i only have about 25-30% meat on my summers i thought i would do it in 2-3 weeks.

man, isnt the 5C rule common sense already?

lowside67 02-05-2011 11:05 AM

Yeah, it is way too early. I dont change back until March-April usually.

CanadaGoose 02-05-2011 11:07 AM

DsZ24 02-05-2011 11:30 AM

At least wait until the start of march then re evaluate lol

racerman88 02-05-2011 12:41 PM

Better check with ICBC, if anything happens if you have summer tires on at this time of year, will they try and get you for improper equipment.
I usually wait until March.

FerrariEnzo 02-05-2011 01:01 PM

i still have my all 35% all season tires on my car.. haha... i take the transit if it snows.... i rather not have to deal with accidents and keep my perfect driving record!

No at fault accidents in 13 years driving with only 2 speeding tix

1exotic 02-05-2011 02:06 PM

if you have ultra high performance summer tires, those are usually decent in the rain also... but not on ice obviously... just wait 4 more weeks till march and slap dem on cuz.

ilvtofu 02-05-2011 03:17 PM

Half ass washed my neglected car today, I don't even get to consider switching back to summers cause I sold them :'(

TypeRNammer 02-05-2011 03:50 PM

How about regular all season tires? I'm thinking about putting them back on since I drive mostly in the afternoon.

Leopold Stotch 02-05-2011 05:00 PM

or you could keep your summers on all year.

just don't be dumb if it's crazy cold don't drive outside.

Gee.Tee.Ar 02-05-2011 05:50 PM

Lots of people don't bother with winter tires most of the time. If you switch to all seasons you should be fine. Just be careful when it's freezing out there.

CorneringArtist 02-05-2011 07:32 PM

I'm going back to my summer rims before the RS Spring Meet, that's for sure.

alex.w *// 02-05-2011 07:37 PM

march 1 for me

FRStan 02-05-2011 10:18 PM

once it averages 7C + then it's time to do it

RevYouUp 02-05-2011 10:24 PM

once LGs start wearing short shorts

ilvtofu 02-05-2011 11:02 PM

^if you spend a lot of time around boss then you would never need winter tires in the first place

GabAlmighty 02-06-2011 12:23 AM

The fuck are the winter and summer tires? I just run the same shit all year round.

TRDood 02-06-2011 12:29 AM
