I've had this wallet for probably four years now.
The first year the outer lining came off so they gave me this replacement wallet which was sweet (only after they messed up on the repair).
Now, about four months ago, i've noticed that the colour is coming off.

I was pretty choked because of how much I paid for this wallet. I figured it would last me a long time. It's way past the one year warranty so I guess i'm SOL. I'm just angry because now it looks like a cheap/fake wallet.

also, mine is the older style bifold with the license window which I prefer so I don't even think they make this one anymore..

Nice wallet, my brother has the brown Guccissima and the same thing is happening with his because he wears it in his back pocket. You can get it repaired (the leather re-dyed)...you'll just end up having to pay for it. Take it back to Gucci and see what they say? But that's normal wear and tear on Guccissima leather.

I like it alot. I have a card or 2 in each slot and its comfortable for me but to each his own. I used to have a gucci one with the coin pouch and compared to that this is obviously way better :P

Oh, didn't know you could re-dye it. That might be an option. Though, if it's like $100 i'm not sure if it'll be worth it.

Thanks for the idea though.

well since gucci doesn't make the transparent card slot anymore in their wallets, it could be a worthwhile investment to transform an old wallet into a close-to-looking brand new one. I definetly think the gucci wallet you have looks alot better than the ones for sale nowadays. just sayin,

how's the build quality on a gucci canvas wallet?
i read on a forum that it starts to unravel after a year's use.
also how would you go about cleaning them?

DKNY Black Leather Wallet . Works great . Try not to stuff too many bills in there . Good quality . It's starting to get torn here and there . 2 years now . Pretty good

Louis vuitton epi leather wallet, works great. Nice and spacy for credit cards; not too big or small; perfect :)

Hey guys got a question about my wallet (like the one above). You can kind of see it in the pic but the wallet does close flush. When it is closed it one side sits on an angle instead of straight with the bottom. What could be causes/repairs for this?

baggdis300 04-03-2011 02:10 PM

i have a LV wallet, and well the main seams along the perimeter are starting to seperate a bit..

its been a year and i used to leave it in the top compartment in my dash so im thinking the heat had something to do with that...

but oh wells

What are peoples take on buying a replicated lv wallet? How much of a difference are they side by side?

PJ 04-03-2011 09:24 PM

Depends what you want it for.. if you want it to flash and show off, then go for it. Really, how many people are actually going to grab your wallet and examine it?

I personally go for the authentics because to me, it's more about the pride of getting something nice out of some hard work. Like GQ says, a man's wallet and watch define who they are. :)

But to answer your question.. of course you will notice some differences if you have both side by side.. more or less depending on the quality of your fake. But most people would hardly be able to tell a replica from an authentic that's been used for a few months.

it is spelled Damier.

christruong: I would recommend the Taiga wallet.

iam_dan 04-16-2011 09:50 AM

id recommend the Taiga also,
i dont know why but ive always thought the checkered design was a bit tacky

this is the one i got around a year ago.. i liked it cause it was more subtle and not as 'flashy'. those red and green ones are hideous. and i wanted the id slot inside, this was only one of the two that had it. i think this pic is of a fake one though..

edit: ugh picture is too big and i don't know how to resize it on the forums. i just spoiler'd it.

have this one, except it has the green and red leather on the fold with a little metal clip. It's served me well for 4 years now.
