Try downloading Malwarebytes - run a scan and see if it detects anything. MSE works fine, Norton actually isn't that great, even if it's better than McAfee, etc.... |
i thought MSE was fine too, but more and more i hear ppl saying it's not up to snuff since you mentioned malwarebytes, has anyone tried MSE and MSE together? |
Norton, Mcafee, Microsoft security, they are all junk I find personally. I use Kaspersky, best anti-virus program I've used. |
i used kaspersky for 3 years too ... there's a shop in white rock and i met someone that worked there. he said they purposely infect test machines and compare virus/malware scanners. none mentioned in this thread was the one he recommended. to be honest, it seems ignorant to stay with one. every year new versions and methods of detection come out, as well as new viruses/malware. i went from norton->eod32->kaspersky->MSE. looking for a new one know though. I forgot if it was here or beyond.ca but someone swore by cloud-based methods. |
I used to use NOD32, small footprint - but it had the worse UI in the world. Different tests will tell you different things. Some will say one anti-virus is better than the other... I think there's another program - i think it's Spybot or something, supposed to be amazing, but no free trial. |
