It's HD in Hong Kong.

EmperorIS 02-10-2011 03:13 AM

no HD no talk

nosaj 02-10-2011 06:28 AM

freaking fairchild is such fail....they are bunch of cheap bastards who know that they already dominate the whole chinese market so they aint gonna do jack to upgrade anything....

we need more competitions/ choices here

TOPEC 02-10-2011 08:31 AM

Shaw needs a way to stream TVB over, ill gladly pay for it, given they corrent the timings differences.

I haven't watched Chinese TV for at least 10 years. Everything on those channels bores me now since they all look terrible. I used to watch that lawyer show (Yut Ho Wong Ting) and that cop show (uh...something...Ching Chup Dong On) and maybe even the one with the doctors but these days they're all sorta boring.

No HD is a dealbreaker too.

The CRTC wouldn't allow that to happen, nor would TVB want to make their channels available here in North America. They would lose alot of sales from rentals. Thus, Fairchild was created in Canada, and TVB USA in the states.

Highly unlikely, the only increase in channels I see would be in the mandarin-speaking market. As the migration of people from the canton region to Canada has reduced over the years.

Those were my favorite shows back in the day too. Most of the 90's stuff was awesome.

TVB in Hong Kong is HD, and they don't pay for basic television. That's TVB + 5 other channels. (At least that's what happened when I was a kid)

Correct me if I am wrong, the TVB HD feed in HK is free as well.

MG1 02-10-2011 04:32 PM

Shaw is migrating all multicultural channels from the 100s to the 500 range.

StylinRed 02-10-2011 05:01 PM

yea

ch199 = 516 (LsTimes)
ch181 = 517 (Fairchild)
ch182 = 518 (Fairchild E)
ch183 = 519 (Phoenix)
ch180 = 520 (Talentvision)
and then 521-523 are new Taiwan (mandarin) stations

I'd like to see fairchild start an HD channel -_- it's sooo lame to see all these shows which i can download in HD in SD but Fairchild likely won't they have no need/drive to

Tim Budong 02-10-2011 06:09 PM

TVBI owns a cut of fairchild MEDIA

shenmecar 02-10-2011 06:14 PM

Yeah i would like Fairchild to start an HD channel too........

創世紀 was one of the best tvb dramas imo.
