For Universities the bulk of their funding comes from research dollars. This is why it's easier to get into Douglas or Langera than it is to get into UBC.

I opted out of going for a couple years, but the Uni still has my spot on hold.  I'm just not sure I can justify that price for the chosen field.

I remember during my post-secondary days I saw tuition going from under 2k per sem to over 3k per sem.
