Any Notary Publics or Lawyers In The House? I lost my passport, and need to get a new one... but I need to have form PPTC 203 filled out in order to do so. PPTC 203 requires a notary public or lawyer to witness me signing it. www.ppt.gc.ca/form/pdfs/pptc203_eng.pdf Anyone here qualified and live in East Vancouver? Would love to get this dealt with tonight so that I can go to the passport office tomorrow... I think it would literally take one minute. Thanks! |
just call up any lawyer that is close to you and they will be able to sign it on the spot for you. |
What would a lawyer charge for this service? |
You're much better off finding a notary public in doing so because they would charge substanially less and they can usually deal with it on a walk in basis. With a lawyer, you would almost always need an appointment before they have time for you. |
find the poorest sight for a lawyer and he'll do it for you for probably $20; typical seems to be $50 but its real ez quick cheap |

Jesus H Christ, I sent an email to a few notary publics close to me, and they quoted me $40. Are you kidding me? It's literally a one minute witnessing job... all they need to do is fill in their name, phone number, and sign it. Anyone know one that is much more reasonable, ideally like $10 or $20 max? |
Masri Wafaa Suite 3A-3147 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC V5R 5K2 604-419-4599 Try these guys, should be able to do it for 20 bucks. |
Reg Chow - Notary Public. In Chintown on Main street, adjacent the HSBC on Keefer. Been going to him for 20 years. |
Thanks for the help guys... I think I can call off the search now. Totally neglected the fact that there are actually a couple lawyers in the company I work at... LoL. We are on different floors, and I'm a systems administrator, so we never interact... so that's why it didn't occur to me right away. Just asked one of them if they could help me out, and he said no problem. |

So you just fill out the PPTC 203 form and then you can get a new " replacement " passport right? Same thing happened to my buddy, a few weeks back but he didn't want to deal with the notary thing - seemed complicated. Was just going to apply for a new passport... |

I don't think he can just apply for a new one without getting PPTC 203 filled out... for sure their computers will show that he already has an existing, current passport, and there's no way they'll issue another one... |

It's so dumb... really, what difference does it make whether a notary witnesses me signing this document saying I lost my passport? But yet, if you don't know any notary public or lawyer, you can get charged $40 for nothing more than a few mindless pen strokes. |
Law degrees don't come cheap :p They gotta make money some how |
thats kinda stupid actually to need a statuary declaration for a lost passport. |
Just sayin'....... Plural form of Notary Public = Notaries Public |
They should be called a Public Notary... then it would be obvious to pluralize it as Public Notaries. :p |
I only paid about $25 last time I has something witnessed at the Notary in Poco. |
