I did witness this HORRIFIC event...Or at least I think I did.

Please post a picture of yourself and your sisters so that I am certain that it was you.

Hope I can be of some assistance soon!

Lol i only tried to correct some person and i get this? These people wanted to ask for some advice because they ARE minors. If you dont have anything good to say or good advice then youre not helping. I thought that was one of the rules here. If some of you think this is funny keep it to yourselves because for some, this is serious matter for them.

I really cant believe why some people think im the same as op. She made an account herself to ask for advice. So stop wasting your time as this matter has been resolved.

I don't understand why kids these days think suing and going to court is a good thing for every scrape and bruise they get when they don't even know what the financial burden of a court case is. Do you think lawyers get paid a McDonald's salary or something?

Paul Blart had every right to escort you and your sisters out of the mall that you've been given the privilege to be in. It's not your god given right to do whatever you want in that mall or even be at Metro.

Too much television, not enough reality.

And that makes ONE person.

OP from her profile says she is 22. And hence the "THEY are minors" doesn't make sense.

Your sister is quite the hothouse orchid if she can't handle a small confrontation without being humiliated and traumatized, god forbid she ever has any real problems shes gonna drop dead on the spot.

I wouldn't call it a "small confrontation". She was escorted out by uniformed security personnel, presumably with several dozen onlookers. At the very least, I'd consider it quite embarrassing.

And again, if they'd just left instead of arguing with the rent-a-cop, that would have been the end of it. They're authors of their own demise.

If you were accused of something you didn't do, you wouldn't try to settle the issue?

There are proper ways to do it. Starting an argument in the middle of the the store is not one of them. They DREW ATTENTION TO THEMSELVES.

Thanks so much skidmark, sebbery and azn_indeed, we really appreciate it.
As mentioned, the matter's been resolved a couple days ago.

Just to clarify, though, after yelling at us from 15+ feet away to "STOP!" (Sorry to disappoint the other people's boring lives but we were simply walking slowly ) and they made us choose to either:
1) Allow them to interrogate my sister separately OR
2) they will escort us to IMMEDIATELY leave the premises
and again, ignoring our requests to clear up the misunderstanding (with a manager/etc, and elsewhere)

I was able to speak with the manager, who was definitely nice, rational, and immediately apologized for the humiliation over SUCH a trivial matter. He even said that "even if the situation were that they erased it,and I know you didnt, it wasnt anywhere close to a big deal to make you leave the premises."

I only intended to ask skidmark (and whoever other reasonable people) for advice (court was, DEFINITELY the very last resort) , and also share the story, because there may be other people who've been/would be in the same situation.
Funny, getting sorta "bullied" by some nobody after supporting the anti-bullying campaign.

I find it amusing that you admit that the issue is "trivial" yet you feel it is important enough to create an account on a forum, write up a thread about the issue, and ask for advice on what to do. You admit that you even thought about taking the matter to court. Seems rather excessive for such a "trivial" issue.

That being said, I would say it is fair to assume that you probably reacted the same way at the mall while the situation was occurring. Acting in a disruptive and non-compliant manner in the mall is the last thing the security officers want. Not only is it causing a scene but with all that commotion, people could become uneasy (given the recent events that have taken at Metrotown Mall; robberies and murders).

Also, I am going to assume "interrogate" is a term you used on your own, because besides from TV/Movies, I don't think security professionals/peace officers use interrogation techniques. Perhaps their "interrogation" would've been your opportunity to clear things up? On one hand you are complaining that you did not get a chance to clear things up and on the other hand you are complaining that the person being accused is a minor so she shouldn't have to answer to the security guard on her own. Contradiction much?

Anyways, I don't want you to be confused with the manners motives behind the apology. I agree with him and you that the issue is indeed trivial, but his actions at this point are most likely his way of saying, "I really don't want to make an issue out of nothing, this is really UNIMPORTANT and my apology will most likely get you to stop crying about it." Again, that's a reasonable and logical thing to do and I would give some kudos to him. I'm sure if you and your sisters acted the same way in the mall, there probably wouldn't be any problems and you would've been able to continue shopping at Build-A-Bear or whatever store you had planned on going to.

It is evident from your story and you're reasoning that your sisters and you are not able to go to the mall without getting into some sort of trouble. Perhaps next time, it would be best for you and everyone if you were accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Best of luck.

Considering we are talking about teenage girls, I don't think you guys should be surprised if being harangued by mall security amidst a crowd of onlookers is humiliating and can affect one's self-esteem. Not all teenage girls are hardcore bitches who think they're tough shit and act rebellious all the time. What if the girl is more of an introvert? I do agree, however, that 'traumatizing' is not the right word to use.

A lot of opinions here are from people a lot older, a lot of you are over 30, so obviously you guys are speaking with more knowledge/wisdom. The thing is, not everyone (especially teens) know that security guards are at the bottom of the "levels of authority" totem pole. They can be very intimidating. Try to put yourselves in their shoes before making such harsh judgments.
