| finally got my PCB PLM v2's after almost 2 years
they're sweet! frick the 86' is HUGE The beam pattern on the wall is kinda dissapointing... super blotchy. Either it's cuz im using a low powered 580ex2 instead of a strobe or mine is defective.

When did you order?
My brother got me the 64" silver for christmas, ordered middle of Dec, arrived middle of Jan.
Want to try with my B1600? haha it can hit probably a football field away

i didnt pre order. i waited till the back orders cleared lol. Im still waiting for the diffuser for the 86".
ya i'd be down for some light tests with some cars if you are

On both the 64" and 86" with an einstein and the diffusion dome,
they give a blotchly light output, I noticed this too
it is amazing though how tight the beam of light is
I tried it with a speedlight and the beam was still really tight

would you happen to have experience with the more expensive parabolics/giant reflectors like the profoto giant reflector, broncolor or maybe even the briese ones?
I'm curious how the light output looks from those
I'm finding the white PLM with outercover and diffusion are very very nice
sort of like a big softlighter i guess, they are quite even from edge to edge and way easier to assemble than a a big octa

profoto and briese give a really even falloff and not blotchy. Never used the broncolors. They are however 5x the size and 100x the price haha.
here's a comparison done by someone using a b1600. That looks real smooth to me... is ur einstein worse than that dcrev? http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/mul...46-10396-10407

If you want to test/see a Profoto Giant or a 7' Elinchrom, I can bring them out if you want.

used the speedring to have the plm perfectly centered 
hope that helps--I guess its not that bad actually, for some reason i thought it was, maybe it was when I was testing with a speedlite
I'm not an expert on these things so maybe you guys can let me know what u think?
taking meter readings and just by seeing the pattern on the wall, the middle is less hot then the outer donut of light

yep, it's only $60 and you get discounts for buying lights too
so if u buy 4 lights u get 20%, so its only $48!
build is really good with fiberglass rods, built very sturdy with 2 year warranty too

ya the biggest one is only $78. It is a HUGE steal and then some when compared with the profoto/briese systems. Even if they are not as good in terms of smoothness of the beam, it's more than worth it's cost. The other upside is the size. I pack 2 of the PLMs into 1 poster canister 
I'd like to see the 20lb profoto get packed into one of those lol.

non.. it's just like a massive shoot through umbrella. It's only the silver one that gives the parabolic effect.
