OBD2 EK ecu for aircare?

Hey all, so I'm originally from the island and most of you know that we don't have aircare over there. I'm on the mainland now but my car is OBD1 converted (99 dx with a d16y8 swapped in) so I'm assuming thats an instant fail. Also have a CEL for the o2 sensor, as the front one isn't hooked up, but there is a brand new one in the cat (I'm told OBD1 only reads the one rear o2 sensor anyways?).

Anyone have any ideas for me? Could I just borrow an obd2 ECU from someone, plug that in, and find an o2 sensor to throw in the front bung and pass the scan easily?

You WILL need your stock OBD2 ecu. Otherwise the AirCare computer won't interface with your OBD1 ecu, which is a fail. Even if you have no CEL, they still have to be able to scan.

Same sort of deal with JDM ecu's. Thats what I was running, and AirCare's computer did not interface with my JDM ecu, so I failed. Even though I didn't have any codes, etc. I even tried to get them to do the roller test instead, but no dice.

I had to borrow a USDM ecu from Garage 5 to get it through.

On a side note, why aren't you running a OBD2 ecu anyhow? Unless you're running Hondata, or planning to, just go grab an ecu from a 1.6EL or Civic Si from a wrecker (same D16y8 as yours). Wire up your o2 sensors and you won't have to worry about it again.

I got the car in the state its in, I believe it had a turbo B series in it beforehand and they just left the P28 in. Whats the average running price of an Si ecu from a wrecker?

Shouldn't be too much, but I honestly can't remember off the top of my head. Some of the sponsers here might be able to source you one, and I know for sure Garage 5 can. You might even be able to work out a trade. Swap your P28 for the one you need. They're also really good about helping people get through AirCare. But you can try places like JK on Mitchell Rd in Richmond for an ecu, but since they sell mostly JDM stuff, they may not have any USDM stuff there... http://www.jkjapaneseautoparts.com/JKHome.html

Hope this helps. AirCare is such a pain in the ass!
