Swapping an OEM 2003 Acura 3.2TL automatic tranny for a non-faulty automatic tranny

I'm looking to buy a 2003 Acura 3.2TL with 109,000 Km and I've read on many forums that the 1999-2003 Acura 3.2TL has problems with their OEM automatic transmissions such as slipping and overheating. Is it possible to swap a 2005 Acura TL transmission into a 2003 Acura 3.2TL? Many people have posted that the TL transmissions replaced after 3/2005 are reliable as long as they are maintained well. Are rebuilt or remanufactured 1999-2003 Acura 3.2TL transmissions more reliable? How long do rebuilt or remanufactured 1999-2003 Acura 3.2TL transmissions tend to last?

swaping out transmission is not cost effective. and it doesnt guaranteed that the transmission is bullet proof.

since you havent bought the car perhaps you should consider 2005 model.

I've seen even 2005+ V6 Honda/Acuras with screwy transmissions.

I don't know what the fix is (when the transmissions are remanned) but it seems hit or miss at best. Even the cars with remanned transmissions from the dealer or aftermarket still have problems from time to time, from what I've seen at least.

2003 tl needs 99-03 tranny. 04-08 tl has different engine/tranny combo

Rebuilt tranny from acura/honda generally has a pretty good life. Check out acurazine for more info.
