| Wifi Network is this possible?
I have 3 computers all with built in Wifi
Computer one is connected to a printer and has a folder that I want to be able share.
Computer two I want it to be able to access the folder on computer one wirelessly
Computer three I want it to be able to print from the printer hooked up to computer one wirelessly.
Is that possible? I’m guessing I will need a Wifi router?

There are several ways to connect your computers:
1. Create an "ad-hoc" connection, the downside to this however, is that you will not be able to connect to the internet unless one of them is physically plugged in to your modem, and the connection is shared.
2. Get a ethernet switch for 20 dollars and physically hook up the three computers together via ethernet cables
3. Buy a router, and hook it up as above (2)
4. Buy a wireless router, and connect all three computers to the same network
*wifi is essentially the same thing as wireless internet, actually, it has gotten to the point where it IS the same thing

Windows 7 is the best...
i had my laptop and desktop both connected to the Telus Wifi Router and i can access both the public folders.. transfer is ok, my desktop only has the G band while my laptop has the N...
programs like VNC... gives you control over other computers remotely.. so you can access computer 1 with computer 3 as if your in front of computer 1... your also able to transfer files..
its very good program, i use this on my step-sons computer, if he goes onto a bad site, i close the browser or i record it on my computer and ask him WTF hes doing...

but yeah grab a wireless router, setting up adhoc can get quite tricky and AP mode isnt supported by all wireless chipsets

From what you described, in order for you to print or view files, all 3 comps need to be on.
Most modern routers have built in USB ports and s/w that support file/print sharing. If it's hooked up to your router anyone on the same workgroup can access the printer/file 24/7. The router I use even has a web function (USB drive becomes a file server) it's like having your own webserver without any additional fees. Posted via RS Mobile |

Do you not already have a wireless router? Do these computers all have internet access already?
