CSX type S

Did a search and there's not a lot of threads on the type S.

what do you guys think of it? I'm picking up one on saturday, very excited.

Do you guys think it'll be as reliable as the SI?
you guys hear any bad things about it?
Anyone know how much maintenance would be around?

What is RS's opinon on this car?

Energy 02-22-2011 08:08 AM

Type R conversion time!

TRDood 02-22-2011 08:11 AM

You bought a new one and now you are doing research? Oh dear.

Sexy car, not so sexy price. :p

i have done some research but i wanna know what RS thinks cuz well... it's RS whatever is on here has to be better than the stuff i find on legitimate car websites like motortrend. ;)

well its not new cuz they don't make it for 2011 anymore, i got a used one with 28000k on it. so its fairly new. Its a ex lease and CPO. so its in pretty good condition.

viet-boi69 02-22-2011 09:40 AM

what color did you get? post pics when you pick it up!

Shun Izaki 02-22-2011 09:42 AM

Great car, because it's essentially an JDM FD2 in terms of some parts.

No complaints from any owners I know.

twitchyzero 02-22-2011 09:53 AM

buy one...do the full Type-R conversion...sell it in the US

profit?? :troll:

i did research before buying thanks for your concern.

Benz_05TSX 02-22-2011 11:20 AM

only complain I heard is if you are looking for a more mature and luxury car, this is NOT your choice. Can get other cars in same price range with more options

kkttsang 02-22-2011 11:35 AM

yea i was looking for luxury plus K20 engine and the price i got it was pretty good

yoshi86 02-22-2011 11:37 AM

Sweet~!
Type-R conversion!!!

dolzzang 02-22-2011 11:41 AM

come join CSXdriver @

Many threads regarding mods, maintenance and more. btw, type-s is essentially the same car as the Si with more luxuries.

icemiko 02-22-2011 11:47 AM

It's a good car, it was on my list of cars to chose from when I was looking for a car back then.

TypeRNammer 02-22-2011 11:47 AM

I prefer the seats in the Civic SI sedan than the CSX-S ....

hirevtuner 02-22-2011 01:12 PM

dont like the blind spot are on the front side windows on the car

cheapskate 02-22-2011 03:08 PM

Congrats! I think its a cool little car though I personally would have gotten the Civic version and save a few grand. Though if you prefer the Japanese body then the extra you pay is worth it.

optiblue 02-22-2011 03:49 PM

Do the JDM R conversion and you're set.

ekr 02-22-2011 05:14 PM

I've the Type S and have driven that for couple months now. So far my impressions are good. comfy headed seat (not as wrap as the civic si but I'm tired of that due to my old Recaro spg). nice features (all power window, lock, etc) and especially the navi comes in handy when you've to go for a short trip (ie. going to US has never been easier and also finding road taht I've no idea where they're at).
the only bad thing I can think of right now will be the stock tires are crap and the stock brake seems to not as powerful as I though (mainly b/c I had all the work done on my last civic hatch, so when it comes to comparsion the Type S seems to be not as good)

as someone said earlier, join http://www.csxdriver.ca/index.php and you'll find a lot more info than in RS

If you want to do a full type R conversion you'll need the follow
Front CTR bumper
both CTR fender and all the liner and what not
front CTR grill (or whatever grill out there you want, ie. mugen, J's, etc)
both CTR side skirt
rear CTR bumper and diffuser
and as for the spoiler you better change that while you're at it, otherwise it'll look funny with the stock spoiler.

BTW, did you end up getting the silver one from burrard acura?
I checked that one out when I pick mine up last christmas at coquitlam

kkttsang 02-22-2011 05:33 PM

yea i just joined CSXdriver ... seems like a pretty new forum less than 200 members but the threads have been helpful.

LuHua 02-24-2011 07:24 PM

I agree with hirevtuner; the A pillars give you a nice blind spot on the left. Sweeping left turns are a PITA.

Dinan3 02-24-2011 09:09 PM

I think it's a great looking car. Hope you got it in white for conversion purposes...haha.

Energy 02-24-2011 09:26 PM

Spotted this today. You can end up looking something like this.

it's a pretty cool car. i used to work at an acura dealership and the car grew on me a lot while i worked there. i was considering buying one a yearish ago, but didn't really have the money for it. when i had the money later on, i realized, for that price, you have a lot more options

regardless though, that's my opinion. obviously you like the car or you wouldn't have bought it. opinions on the car shouldn't really matter, at the end of the day it's your car - as long as you like how it looks, drives, feels, nothing else really matters. reading up on common problems and reliability are a different story (but i'm sure you've done that prior to buying the car)

only thing though - please do something about the grille!
