thats how they do it in the hospital also and probably a lot safe, what if that person got a sudden twitch and jams those into your ear or something???

It's generally not a good idea to clean your ears.
Earwax lubricates and protects the inside of your ear.
I do not recommend people routinely clean their ear unless it [earwax] is actively affecting your hearing.
