Are there any good deals on TV/Internet packages?

Hey guy,s I'm tried of being with Shaw and paying $240/month for my HD TV and Internet package. I currently have 2 PVR rentals, the best internet they offer, and their HD channel package.

i called them saying that i will cancel, and they said ok go ahead... doesnt work the same as Rogers I guess. So I called back under a different name and was able to get a new package with shaw phone, 50mbps internet, HD Tv with one free PVR rental for $140. does that seem reasonable? have you heard of better deals out there?

i think he misunderstood the rep, cause there is no way he's getting 50mb internet for a packaged cost of $140, more like 15mb

there are only a few if not one other tv provider that you can go to...
unless you are willing to sacrifice on a few things then expect to still be paying through the nose...

Telus Optik... they've really been pushing it recently. Quality can be hit or miss though, depending on service area.

Agreed. Talk to retentions first. If you're not on contract anymore, then they have incentive to get you a better deal. Just tell them you don't feel like paying so much, and see what they can do.

i wasnt on a contract to begin with... i was just renting shaw's equipment and paying monthly. i called and said that i dont wanna be paying that much anymore and want to go to something cheaper. they pretty much said ok we'll cancel it for you... didn't know shaw had a retentions dept...

so did you cancel with them, and start new service under a different account? or are you still with the original deal?

If you arent too happy, call back and tell them telus is offering you a better deal. you will hear the rep talk shit about telus for a bit, and this is where you stick to your guns. eventually you should be transferred to retentions.

with retentions mention the telus plan, but dont push it. if he calls your bluff you are screwed. instead, just mention telus, and tell them you are more than happy to stay a shaw customer, as you love their service, but stress that as much as you like shaw, you are more concerned about the financial side of things.

How's Telus Internet quality? I'm considering switching since Shaw quality is great but kinda expensive.

something goes wrong with telus' service every once in a while, but they seem to have a lot of promotions. ive never dealt anyone other than shaw, telus, or rogers, but i much prefer telus' retention and loyal dept the best out of the 3.

shaw seems to work the best but its just so damn expensive!

What are you mostly watching on TV? Some ppl would be better off just downloading/streaming all their tv shows they watch. Unless its something you need to see live.
