Hmm, sp after a quick google I'm led to believe that social calibration is just being socially well-adjusted, I guess it's being able to interact and speak with other people easily and without awkwardness, like a regular person, and knowing how to behave in front of others...

Let me know if that sounds wrong.

Basically OP's friends are telling him he's an awkward person to be around, and he needs to learn how to talk and mannerisms and basically what and what not to do in front of other people.

Social Calibration is also about having the ability to modify your behavior depending on what group of people you're with. Most people who are bad at this are also very bad at reading social cues in others.

How to get better at it?

Talking to people. Learning from people. Watching people and consciously paying attention to both what they say with their mouths and what they say with their bodies and their actions.

I totally recommend improve/theater sports as one of the best ways to learn this shit and hone your own control over your body and language. If you're young, look and see if there's a group locally.
