Did you know STI's turbo is made by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries? The same is true for BMW's 335i as well.

Same as the Turbo on Genesis Coupe, not too sure about the their Sonata Turbo...

reminds me of this, 2:00 onward

“I just can’t help thinking that thanks to all sorts of things; the environment, the economy, problems in the middle east, the relentless war on speed … cars like this will soon be consigned to the history books.”

“I just have this horrible dreadful feeling, that what I’m driving here is an ending.”

so evo meet? for our fallen comrades

They still do compete in rallying, just not in WRC.

Plus the WRC is using 1.6L turbo engines.

Oil is trading at 100 bucks right now. Over the long-term, oil is likely to trade above this threshold.

It's obviously why Mitsu Motors made this decision - the future is in electric/hybrid vehicles. There will still be cars powered by gas, but those people will have money and they won't buy ricer cars like the EVO or STI; they will buy BMWs, Mercs, and Audis because they are status symbols.

Are you on crack? How can you put the GTR and STi in the same category?

OVER THE BACK FENCE

Mitsubishi isn’t denying Evo dead after 2013
Matt Hardigree — An offhand comment from Mitsubishi's global product director that "we must stop" making the Evo after the Lancer Evolution X had Subaru fanboys cheering and everyone else worried. But is it true?

Mitsubishi's Gayu Eusegi told Autocar that the vehicle so long responsible for the brand's image was no longer consistent with the brand's environmental goals.

We reached out to a Mitsubishi spokesman who would only say "The current Evo is planned through 2012-2013, but we're not talking about our plans after that."

A non-denial denial? We feel queasy.

GTR = STI = Evo?

kyoshiro 03-02-2011 04:31 PM

GTR is already beyond the STI price range so only STI left really.

On a side note, it was found 3 months ago that Venezuela has more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia.

MSRP of 2011 WRX STI BASE = $38k

MSRP of 2012 GTR = $100k..

There is always still the deep sea oil reserve right off the coast of BC and all the way up to Alaska, but that is not likely to get drilled especially after the gulf of mexico incident.

Production of the current Lancer Evolution continues as planned.
As for its successor, regulations and market feedback will dictate its engineering package & architecture.

MMC has kept the Lancer Evolution sedan evolving as the brand's highest performing model in the global market. However, as the market's needs and demands change, MMC is considering not advancing the Lancer Evolution concept in the same way as before, but to find a different direction for the Lancer Evolution model to evolve. The new direction, the technologies involved, and corresponding products will be disclosed in due course.

The way I see it is that Mistu is going to continue with one last proper Evo model and either do a hybrid EVO or kill the brand entirely down the road. The fact that there are rumblings about the branch cancellation means that there was at least talks about it.
