Wiring Subs for proper ohmage

I'm getting confused between wiring my subs parrallel vs series.

I have 4 alpine type r's wich are 2+2's, and a kicker 1000.1 monoblock. Kicker amps are not 1 ohm stable so I want to run the subs between 1.5-2 ohms. Is this possible??? I will also consider running only 3 subs if this changes anything. No sorry, running 2 amps at this time is not possible

I would prefere to run only 3 subs... dont feel like making another box for 4

edit: Here is a diagram for 3 ohm... but Id still prefere 2

Or... would the amp handle 1.33ohms?? Im not looking for full volume all the time, I just dont want to burn my amp out.

Why not just get a real amp that can handle a 1ohm load? We've got them from $200.00 at 1000 watts rms.

3 or 4 woofers will not be ideal with the amp you have. I do not recomend that you load that amp lower than 2 ohms, 1.3333333333333333 could present problems. You could run all 4 subs @ 4 ohms (which would be weak) or 2 subs @ 2 ohms. To do the latter you could paralell the voice coils then series the 2 woofers from the amp or vice versa. Hope this helps.

Well here are a few pictures of what I came up with. Made a slot ported box, mounted the amp under the box in a compartment, I am running the subs at 1.3333333 ohms ;) and its hooked up through a 1 farad capacitor. I did the "big three" under the hood and so far so good. Officially the most bass I've had yet and I've got a 4th woofer for a spare :) When the amp gives out, I'll look for a 1ohm stable amp... but in the meantime I've got an expensive amp that I'd like to use. I think I may run a aux fan in the compartment for the amp but I'll see how it does. I dont plan on using it past 1/3 volume
(sorry no install or amp pics. Good shopping list for thieves ;)

I can design and build a box that will be louder for two subs than 3 or 4 in that configuration. Hell, I could probably make one 12" louder (and sound better at the same time) than 4 given the right power and enclosure/placement. :)

Don't listen to all the haters. I've even run shitty old kicker impluse amps at 1.33ohm and never blew one.
If yours is one of the older zx1000.1's run the piss out of it, feed it well and keep it cooled.

You're also a pro installer and I'm a DIY'er
