We talking tropical and you've never been to Hawaii? It's worth going at least once.

I Hawaii still worth it? I've heard it's way too expensive now and not nearly as nice as it once was?

What Islands are best?

This guy has been to the Maldives. I don't think expensive is an issue.

Theres no place in the world quite like Hawaii. I suggest Honolulu on Oahu, then Kona on the Big Island.

Been there, it's ok. It's nice, but nothing really to do except suntan, which gets pretty boring. Scuba diving isn't good there either, not much to see. The other islands have more things going on.

I've been every Hawaiian island. I prefer Big Island as there's more to do. Kaui has the best scenery imo. Maui is full of mostly old retired Vancouverites, but kayaking during whale season is cool there.

It's on my list. But i've heard it's way over rated. Planning for Galapogas, as diving there is like Mount Everest for divers.

your talking best tropical islands and people mention Hawaii???? you people r crazy.

You really cant compare any places of Hawaii vrs some of the worlds most amazing places.

Australia - WhitSundays (Day Dream Island)
Caribbean - Try Great Exuma area. Costly but amazing area. Depends what type of holiday your looking and budget. Sandals Royal.... resort is amazing with its own private island.

Greece - Any of the greek islands is amazing and worth the $$$$
Bali - dirty hole thats over rated

People pick hawaii cuz they've never been anywhere else. It is the easiest one to get to since there's direct flights. But nothing special after you been there.

Was going to say French Polynesian Islands, but see that you've been there.

Greek Isles, Cook Islands, Curacao

That's crap, IMO. I've been to a decent number of tropical vacation destinations (California, Florida keys, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, St Maarten, St Lucia, St Thomas, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, St Kitts, Antigua, Barbados, east coast of Australia, French Riveria, Balearic islands, Greek islands, Italian riveria, Croatia/Dalmatian coast) and Maui is probably still one of my favorites. Pristine beaches, good watersports, good resorts, excellent flight options, great infrastructure, etc.... it's tough to beat. IMO the only real knock on Hawaii (and particularly Maui) is that it's extremely touristy and quite expensive, but that doesn't make the beaches any less spectacular.

To the OP -- sorry for bringing this up long after your initial question -- but have you considered the Dutch ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao)? I've never been, unfortunately, but I'm told the beaches in Aruba are spectacular and the diving in Bonaire is apparently the best in the Caribbean.
