That dreamweaver template way of doing things is pretty dated. Based on your post it seems like you don't want to do that much hands-on coding. I would recommend researching Wordpress for your site.

Wordpress is popular for blogging but you can configure it to run a site. It'll take a small chunk of time to get one up and running properly. Once it's up it's easy sailing... grab a free theme http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

some hosting companies like godaddy let you do a one click wordpress deploy.

thanks michelin_man,

i'm actually very new to this.. are the WP themes in an HTML format, where you can then edit them in a WYSIWYG type of application?

i was thinking about going with godaddy actually. i will look into this.

edited: what about paid themes, does anyone have any good sources for relatively reasonably priced themes?

There are TONS of premium themes out there with endless amounts of vendors.

Themeforest.net

And if that isn't enough, Google the rest.

WP themes use html/css and contain some wordpress specific tags to output text. The link above has both paid and free themes.

WYSIWYG editing a theme might be a little trickier. What I did last time was pick a theme I liked and made small changes and previewed it after every edit.

Once you implement the theme, the WYSIWYG part would be for the content. Wordpress+theme will do the shell and you would type in your body content in a text box just like this forum post
