Went to Columbia FIAT to look at the Cinquecento

I thought it'd be an abomination of Chrysler influences but no? It's fully badged in FIAT livery and I sat in a Prima Edizione for the first time...After seeing it everywhere in Hong Kong, Japan and seen it multiple times on top gear I've finally sat in one for real...

Something like 1.4L 101bhp 96lb-ft of torque, made in Mexico (VIN starts with a 3). Standard sliding glass sunroof, Prima model comes with 16" wheels and red calipers (in your typical ricer self painted manner, no real brake upgrade over stock is involved here)

Discuss.

I was looking at one and did a bunch of research on it, but now I'm going to wait for the abarth model instead.

hk20000 03-10-2011 10:25 PM

Sales guy is saying that's for next year at least....For a basic city car this looks promising though. Makes a hell lot more sense than a Smart Fortwo....at about the same price.

carmaniac 03-11-2011 07:29 AM

For some reason I can see one with Hello Kitty plastered all over the interior and a fugly honger chick driving it...

I'd only take the Abarth or else it'll look like someone chopped off your balls...

donjalapeno 03-11-2011 08:38 AM

id rock a abart ss

hk20000 03-11-2011 08:48 AM

I wonder how many sales person will pick up some Italian antics just to play their part in selling an "Italian car"

rumor is that within the first 4 years of the merger we'll also see Alfa Romeo. I'd so hit that.

Jackygor 03-11-2011 09:11 AM

Yup, very want! Looks like a perfect fast car for urban roads.

Phil@rise 03-11-2011 09:19 AM

I like it but then again I like quirky weird cars

Qmx323 03-11-2011 09:29 AM

Alfa Romeo?

TheMatty 03-11-2011 01:43 PM

im thinking of one as a DD

didn't know they were in already, def would like to test drive one

hk20000 03-11-2011 02:46 PM

They just came in a few hours before I went to look at them...

Test drives aren't available until at least next week, the sales man said. They let us go in and out of what's supposed to be "someone else's car" LOL

The sales said he bought one for himself and that's one of the few on display too.

eurochevy 03-11-2011 02:49 PM

i'd take this any day of the week over a honda fit / any type of little car like that ..we need more euro cars here similar to the 500

badgerx3 03-11-2011 03:07 PM

damn that alfa looks slick

Matlock 03-11-2011 03:40 PM

Wow the Abarth beat Lotus Elise.

Rikaro 03-11-2011 05:21 PM

If you're insecure about your masculinity over what car you drive you have bigger worries than choosing which supermini to get.

taylor192 03-11-2011 06:52 PM

Has anyone actually driven one? I really like these, finally a small good looking car. Minis and Smarts just seem plasticy.

BrRsn 03-11-2011 06:56 PM

They've got one at chrysler/dodge jeep on marine next to superstore (between fraser and main I believe). Just the one I saw it earlier today, in black.

Never thought I'd say this but I want one. Gas is crazy expensive and this thing is pretty quick and has good handling, and its great on gas. I see no downside .. besides the fact that I'm a soccerball if I ever get into an accident with anything larger than a midsize car.

ae101 03-11-2011 07:18 PM

yes its a great car, my dads friend in the uk has one & he says its a wonderful little car (as it was cheaper then a mini) & its loads a fun (he owns a ninja & few nices cars, he know whats a fun car)

he bought it for his daughter at 1st then after driving it a few times he just took it & went with it & u be surprise at how much room is inside that little thing (my dads friend is actually quite tall)

Matsuda 03-11-2011 09:21 PM

hk20000 03-11-2011 11:24 PM

SpuGen 03-11-2011 11:59 PM

wtf.
Around 20k... and I was thinking about getting a Honda Fit for my mom next year.

Fuckit. Fiat 500 it is. And if the Abarth is coming next year, and isn't that much more.. I'm sold.
