Planning a trip to Hawaii

My girlfriend and I want to go to Hawaii for her birthday in May, just wondering whats the best place to go for couples? Not much partying but more of a relaxation trip for us. Anybody have suggestions on where to look for flights and accommodation?

If you want more of a relaxing atmosphere, you then definately want to go to Maui. Its more relaxing, sit on beach type of atmosphere. If you want more of a tourist filled partying atmosphere, then you want to go to Honolulu (Waikiki). Its more of a shopping filled, restaurants everywhere, hotels everywhere type of place, with some beach.

If it matters, everyone that I have talked to have preferred Maui over Honolulu.

maui is nicer than honolulu for sure.. but not even close to kauai for a relaxing couple's retreat.

here's my blog for kauai:

trust me, bring the gf, rent a car, get a map, and get ready for the best couple's hawaiian experience ever. For me, it beats all the other islands unless you charter a boat to private islands. Honolulu felt like LA compared to Kauai and Maui felt like farmlands by the ocean.

Kona is more fun. You can hike the volcano crater and go see the lava flow at night.

One of the hotels has spot lights at night in the water to attract mantas.

The eastern part of Big island is a rain forest climate so you can go visit the waterfalls, etc.

Kaui is more relaxing than Maui, beaches are more private.

Kauai is definitely what your after. Maui is nice and some really nice resorts there that are quite but for simply secluded areas then Kauai is the way to go.

Whats your budget for this trip?
