how old do you need to be?

my buddy was telling me you can go out with ur L on a sport bike without any supervision or anything. is this true?

I <3 teh lulz 03-20-2011 04:07 PM

That's not true.

ziggyx 03-20-2011 04:13 PM

You can ride any bike with your L without any supervision as long as you pass the motorcycle skills test. You are qualified for the MST after 14 days if you already have a class 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Other wise its 30 days.

Keep in mind doing a MST test on a sport bike is pretty hard.. I suggest looking into riding school. It's a good investment and Pacific riding school is qualified to conduct the MST.

cjay$ 03-20-2011 04:19 PM

so you are saying all i have to do is go take this test after i have my L ?

ziggyx 03-20-2011 04:26 PM

yeah it's not the full motorcycle license (in other words you will still have your L), but it'll remove two restrictions.

-you can ride without a supervisor
-60km/h speed restriction removed

more info here.

Same here, especially since my little bro did the same thing and almost killed himself.

ziggyx 03-21-2011 06:07 PM

As I was saying earlier MST on a sport bike isn't easy.

Expect your MST to be something like this :fullofwin:

Story please!

SkinnyPupp 03-21-2011 08:36 PM

He was riding home from work late at night and crashed into a parked car somehow. Nobody knows how.. We assume he fell asleep or something, but I suspect he may have been trying to do stunts or was speeding... We'll never know, but he broke a lot of bones all over his body... He was working on being a chef, but now his hands don't articulate so well so he had to give that up...

That must've been hard to give up a career over an accident. Does he still ride?

Don't forget, helmets are for pussies. Also, once you buy your Hayabusa, make sure you wear as little protection as possible. You want to be able to move as freely as possible and extra layers will only prevent you from being able to stunt properly.

Well he was just 17 so wasn't really a 'career' yet. He doesn't ride anymore

CharlieH 03-22-2011 01:16 AM

the mst was a bit of a pain on the gixxer. thankfully i went an hour ahead of time and made a few practice runs on the course. pulling a full lock u-turn on a sport bike is a pain in the ass lol.

g_spyder91 03-22-2011 09:00 AM

...and flip flops with a wife beater are approved riding "gear".

I'm gonna have to follow this thread for sure.

ziggyx 03-22-2011 04:24 PM

I think op is gone.. lol

I'm pretty sure he ran or roller bladed to the nearest ICBC testing center as soon as he found out he might be eligible to ride a motorcycle on his own.
