Earth Hour I was almost sure that some moron would come here telling us to turn our lights off. I'm surprised there, REVscene...you may have gotten slightly smarter in one year. |
Even when I went off on a totally off topic rant, people didn't seem to mind. My hope is that someone starts an actual grassroots movement against bullshit eco marketing like this. Posted via RS Mobile |

i sleep from 4pm-10pm everyday... so my lights were off |
earth hour = load of crap, my office building has poster posted for earth hour everywhere. i guess it doesn't take energy/ink/resources/paper to print those posters. wat a way to offset energy saved during earth hour people should be just sensible using energy and shouldn't need reminder of earth hour |
earth hour was today? XD |
My lights are never on anyways :fullofwin: My computer monitors are my light source :troll: |
I forgot about it :( Posted via RS Mobile |
Instead of having all of this big hype around a single "Earth Hour" (including print advertising, wtf?) why not dedicate an entire month to simple challenges that would not only reduce environmental impact but could also change people's behaviors on a longer scale. Day 1, challenge yourself to use only the appliances you need. Don't leave lights on in rooms you aren't in, don't mingle in front of the fridge, put on a sweater instead of cranking the heat, etc. Day 2, wash your clothes or dishes in cold or at least coldER water. Day 3, carpool to work or school or whatever etc etc By changing your behavior on a small scale over a longer period of time you run the chance of finding out how easy it is to make small changes in your life that you can repeat. Its not like Mar 26th is going to make me think 6 months down the road "Holy shit. I should turn my lights off for an hour tonight" Its stupid, ineffective, and only sounds good on paper. (HAY GUIZE WE SAVED 6954785452 KILOWATTS FOR THAT ONE HOUR YOU TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS LOOK HOW EFFECTIVE WE CAN BE WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER) |
I turned the lights off... on youtube :fullofwin: |
When was Earth hour? |
I wasn't home during earth hour so I left my lights off like I normally do when I'm out, does that count as participating? When I got home I saw people on facebook post photos of their "earth hour dinner" where these people have dinner during earth hour only with candles lit... I don't understand why I haven't removed them from facebook yet. Quote:

I have never understood why the Richmond Oval has all those lights on during the night. Please shut that shit off after 2 am or something. Such a waste. |
There's an article in the Toronto Star about chasing down those people who are involved with enviro-actions but didn't turn off their lights. One guy got busted, then turned them off, then turned them on and came out to argue with the reporter being all like "yo buddy, I got solar panels and drive a prius!" Fucking hell, just work and reduce. I keep one light on every day, and it's so that I don't kill myself at night and so that I can find my way in when I get home. It's a CFL, and the only other light I have on comes from my monitors. Yeesh! |
I'll turn my lights off but the porn will still be on :troll: |
Last night they had the lights in Wendy's turned off in Alberni, I LOLED |
